De ontwikkelingen in de Verenigde Staten bevestigen wat Fleckvieh-fokkers al jaren weten: een rendabele melkveehouderij vraagt om een complete koe. Niet alleen melkproductie telt, maar ook de waarde van vlees, gezondheid, vruchtbaarheid en levensduur.

Tijdens de Dairy Conference 2026 in Chicago werd duidelijk dat de winstgevendheid van veel melkveebedrijven steeds minder afhankelijk is van de melkprijs alleen. Zonder de huidige hoge opbrengsten uit vleeskalveren zouden de marges op veel bedrijven zelfs negatief zijn.

Deze ontwikkeling onderstreept het belang van dubbeldoelrassen zoals Fleckvieh. Zij combineren een goede melkproductie met waardevolle stierkalveren en een hoge slachtwaarde van afvoerkoeien. Waar veel melkveebedrijven extra inkomsten zoeken via kruisingen met vleesrassen, levert een Fleckvieh koe van nature zowel melk als vlees. Juist die combinatie maakt de complete koe economisch aantrekkelijker dan ooit.

One of the most interesting and safest bulls in Fleckvieh-breeding, the BFG WAL-Son WALFRIED, was bred in Carinthia/Austria by Christian Moser and became a very popular bull overnight by the presented offspring groups. With 16,625 first inseminations, the now 9-year-old bull was No. 8 of the most used Fleckvieh bulls in Germany last year. The development of the offspring is almost spectacular - from a normal young cow to an expressive full-grown type cow it takes even years longer with the BFG WALFRIED offspring. Fitness strong, fertile, trouble-free, impressive udders and healthy, with excellent persistence! We continue to warmly recommend the bull for farms that don't want to make mistakes or can't afford mistakes!
