Getting on with setting up the bore for the farm. The water line was connected a month or so ago to the header tank and now I'm putting in the trenches for the solar power lines between the bore pump and the solar panels. We are using a 3pl Trenchmaster 150 to cut the line. These are an amazing piece of kit in my experience, although you need a tractor with creeper gears, which our MF has.

I've also dug the trenches for the water pipes to run from the Hydrosmart softening system we'll be installing between the bulk tank and the cattle water trough.

Once completed the area will be fenced off, other than the water trough obviously. Six metre high poles with sensor flood lights and 6k security cameras will also be installed. Sadly we seem to live in those times where these extras investments are necessary.

Just a quick update on our ongoing improvements we are undertaking. I also wanted to share some pictures of what I thought was a stunning morning today.

We continue to work upon enclosing under the house. It's expensive and time consuming but we've finally made it past both entrance stairs. I estimate we still need to purchase, and paint, and install 540 lineal metres of wood or 90 lengths. That'll cost about another $5400 but we will get it finished given time.

Today I also ordered two new screen entry doors and a new sliding door to the main bedroom balcony. We are replacing those three doors with Crimsafe products. Another $3500 approximately but we think our guests will appreciate these changes. No more pushing and pulling the doors to get them to lock.

For the doors they will have a better structure, so we'll be able to rid ourselves of the current issue of sagging doors. For the sliding screen door it'll stop the crows ripping the screen apart, which they do as fast as I replace the screen.

That's it for now, we have busy times ahead with a bunch of weekend bookings but there are still spots here and there.

Our old BBQ, whilst looking good enough has slowly corroded internally such that it was starting to fail.

So we made the decision to prioritise a new BBQ. Two days to basically disassemble, recycle at the tip and to assemble the new one which came in 4 boxes. A big job but we've completed, seasoned the hotplates and for now created a test procedure for operation.

A new sink has also be installed and plumbed.

Hopefully new guests will be delighted and returning guests will see the improvements we keep making to Farmstay The Bluff.

Concrete paths are completed and the grass we installed has taken well. Thankfully we had some rain after the new year and my son, Cooper and I gave it a further watering during our maintenance visit last week. We also tackled the hedges, only the four below the entrance and around the back to do.

I must say the property is really looking great.

Now onward to our next five projects;

1. Finish off enclosing under the house. It's been an expensive and time consuming process so we've been doing it slower than if have liked.
2. Install the farm water bore pump to ensure water security on our farm for our animals.
3. Install the new BBQ Suite we have purchased. The current one, whilst looking good has some significant corrosion issues inside.
4. Restrain the Alfresco, hallway and balcony floors, plus the steps and then paint the balcony and stair rails.
5. Pressure wash the external surfaces of the house.

Hopefully our previous guests will see these improvements as a positive. We hope to always delight our customers, (previous, returning and new) and we try to ensure we always offer a refreshed house and surrounds for your staying pleasure.

It's been a while since posting but we continue to work hard to present The Bluff in its best light.

Work is ongoing to improve our paddocks, work continues to set up our water bore and work continues to enclose under the house. All take time and then of course there is the farm animals themselves. Calves have been born and it seems this year most have had some challenge or another. The latter is a mother that looks after her calf but doesn't like it feeding off her.

Anyway, what I'm really pleased to announce is we've just approved the install of a concrete path from our carpark area to our front entrance. Plus we are doing the same out the back with a path that will lead up to the gas bottles. The larger space at the rear will allow us to install a small table and chairs out there as well

Lots more concrete as well, under the cattle crush, around the water pumps and large enough for the generator. Then there are some slabs for other work areas and down at our water pump area. This work will commence next week after our last guests this weekend.

Hopefully looking nice and tidy for our Christmas guests.
