Three ladies, three stalls and **a whole lot of years between us at Rusty's Markets **… although we’re definitely not counting. 😂

There’s something pretty special about the people behind the stalls here. We’ve been turning up week after week, watching each other’s businesses and families grow, sharing plenty of laughs, plenty of stories and probably **far too much gossip before most of Cairns has even had their first coffee.** 🤣☕️

**Some commutes are better than others… 🌅🛶**

Cruising across the Gulf in the dinghy while the sun disappears over the horizon.

No traffic lights.
No peak hour.
No buildings blocking the view.

Just the boat, the water and another ridiculous **Gulf of Carpentaria sunset**. 💙

We spend a lot of time showing you the hard work that goes into commercial fishing — the long nights, the weather, the nets, the fish and the jobs that never seem to end.

But then the Gulf gives you moments like this.

And you remember just how bloody lucky we are to work in one of the wildest and most beautiful parts of Australia. 🇦🇺

Ever wondered who deals with all those barra scales before your fillets make it to the kitchen? 😂🐟

Troy does. Lots and LOTS of them.

Here’s a little time-lapse of Troy descaling our wild-caught Gulf barramundi before they head over to be filleted.

It’s one of those jobs most people never see — but every barra is properly descaled and prepared by our crew so when it reaches you, you don’t have to deal with scales flying around your kitchen at home. 🙌😂

Just one small part of the work that happens between catching a barramundi in the Gulf of Carpentaria and getting those beautiful fillets ready for the freezer.

As we say - September is the 'premiership' month in more ways than one!

Some photos say more than words ever could. ❤️

Late at night on the Gulf, with nothing but the glow of the wheelhouse screens lighting up their silhouettes — John and Troy, side by side.

We are so incredibly proud of these two.
For years they’ve watched the commercial fishing industry change around them. They’ve faced closures, more restrictions, uncertainty and times when it has felt like all the odds were stacked against them.

But they’re still here.

Still heading out into the dark.
Still putting in the long nights.
Still bringing home the catch.
Still fighting to hold onto a way of life that has supported our family for generations.

There’s something pretty special about seeing John and Troy standing together at that wheel.
Two generations of fishermen who, despite everything thrown at them, just keep going.

And behind DragonPearl Seafoods, behind every box of fish and every day at Rusty’s, are men like these who refused to give up when giving up probably would have been easier.

We couldn't be prouder of them. ❤️🎣
