A few more photos of the Warralea Droughtmasters trio of showees and their young handlers on the North Qld coastal show run with the KJNS Cattle Team (Whitsunday/Bowen/Ingham). A huge result for the kids at Bowen for picking up most successful exhibitor with plenty of ribbons in the handlers, led commercial and stud sections against lots of quality competition (cattle and kids). The weather has been OK for them sofar but its about to get very wet as they travel into the super saturated Far North (yes, its still raining up here). Very happy with the way our cattle are bonding and behaving for the kids and congratulations to the others who have supplied led cattle for them also. Very happy with the way this young bull (Warralea Droughtmasters Kingsley) has taken to life on the road and the relationships made with the young handlers from KJNS Cattle Team. Three ribbons from three shows to date against good competition, and he has helped the kids win a few more in paraders classes. Not to bad for a calf with only a month of education/preparation. Congrats to all the students from all schools and to Rondel Droughtmasters for flying the Droughtmaster Australia flag in the west and all their success at Hughenden and Winton shows.

A big thank you to all those who visited our site at the recent Northern Beef Producers Expo. The positive comments about our grassfed Droughtmaster bulls were warmly received. We are always wary of standing grassfed animals along side of those well prepared on grain. Again & again we hear buyers say they prefer not to purchase big, fat & overdone breeding cattle yet it seems our sales and shows seem to be dominated by those types that have taken FIGURES FROM A FEEDBAG to the limit. Well done to all at the KJNS Cattle Team for a great effort at the Clermont Show, bringing home a swag of all coloured ribbons and lots of experience from their first show of 2026. Chuffed that our junior heifer , WARRALEA JOYFUL (Gillmara G.I.) picked up a red ribbon and little brother WARRALEA KINGSLEY (Locarno Kingswood) earned a blue ribbon in the baby bull class, after only 14 days of education and preparation. Our small Droughtmaster team are the first in over 40 years to carry the Warralea prefix into a show ring, so its been a while. Congratulations to Cliff & Sasha Mylrea on taking out the supreme exhibit in Clermont , Needmor Droughtmaster Maverick and all those involved with the Clermont Show 2026. Safe travels and good luck to the young KJNS Cattle Team members for the trip west to Hughenden and Winton shows over the coming week. Its all about the calves ! When Roy from Tropical North Droughtmasters decided to start his own Droughtmaster Stud in one of the wettest places in FNQ a few years ago, we were chuffed to supply him with young grassfed stud heifers that would be the foundation of his future breeding herd. Fast forward a bit, and we are impressed with his results to date. To us, a heifer sold for breeding must be a genetic package that is destined to mature in a low maintenance, easy doing tropical breeder who calves easily, mothers and milks well for her calf, from birth to weaning, even under adverse conditions. Our family have been stringently selecting feminine, long, loose skinned females that are destined for breeding, for over 50 years, based on fertility, mothering & milking ability, udder/teat/navel shape & size and parasite resistance. Calf size and maternal fertility & performance is always front of mind when potential Sires for the herd are selected. Congratulations on the quality of the calves from this young herd, knowing that many generations of maternal selection have and continue to play a substantial role. These are not overpampered, ready for a bull and close to a clearing dip.
