From an insignificant beginning of some 6 stall holders Rusty’s has grown into an enormous three day event with over 180 stall holders. It has become renown for its carnival atmosphere, colourful stall holders, sumptuous displays of exotic fruit, vegetables, exotic flowers, bric-a-brac, delicatessens, specialty products & an excellent selection of food & beverage stalls. Rusty’s is named after the

late Emrys “Rusty” Rees, who developed & expanded the market into the mega event it is today. The new owners, Gilligan’s Backpacker Hotel & Resort, have faithfully carried on the tradition & Rusty’s continues to offer it’s weekly delights to shoppers & tourists alike. Rusty’s Market is now an established Cairns tourist icon & certainly worth a visit. We are easily located in the CBD between Grafton & Sheridan Streets, just ask any local.

“Early morning at Rusty’s Markets and after a bit of breakfast so stopped by Toasted Melt Bar.

Owned by the peeps that brought us the Burgerlicious Food Truck, they do Toasties with a twist! 🥪 Their bread loaves are sliced longways to give you a double length super long Toastie! 😮 It’s essentially 2 Toasties so big enough to share!

Toasted Melt Bar have just brought out a new menu with a ‘Build your own’ option starting from $8 for the Classic 3 Cheese super long Toastie. They also have Delux Toasties with full or half loaf sizes. I built my own and I have to say shoving this hot fresh cheesy sammich in my face was exactly what I needed on a Friday morning. 🤭

Highly recommend adding pickles and relish! 😊 They even have a sweet option with their Banana Nutella Toastie! 🤤

Find them next to the back entrance of Gilligans where Rusty’s Summer Drinks used to be, on the Sheridan Street side of Rusty’s 7am-3pm Friday to Sunday.”
