Expressions Of Interest to operate Camden Town Farm Produce Markets coming soon.

We’re seeking a capable and enthusiastic operator to manage and further enhance Camden’s much-loved weekly Camden Town Farm Produce Markets!

Camden Council will soon invite Expressions of Interest from prospective market operators, cooperatives and businesses who can demonstrate the capability and vision to market, manage, operate and grow the Produce Markets in a way that reflects our community’s values and aligns with the Camden Community Strategic Plan.

This formal process is required because:
• The agreement with the current market operator has expired
• It is best practice for Council to regularly review arrangements for the use of Council land
• The Local Government Act 1993 requires a public EOI or tender process for ongoing occupation of Council-owned facilities

📅 EOIs open: Tuesday 27 January 2026, closing on Friday 27 February 2026

The successful operator will be appointed for an initial two-year term, with options to extend for a further two years, and will honour the legacy of Miss Llewella Davies OAM, ensuring Camden Town Farm continues to thrive as a community agricultural hub while embracing innovation, sustainability and inclusive engagement.

No rest for us – and even less for the cows!
Meet the newest addition to the Camden Town Farm herd: Tyson, our new purebred Angus bull who stepped off the trailer today.
Tyson’s got one very important job ahead. After a few weeks settling in, he’ll be introduced to the older herd and, fingers crossed, sire next year’s crop of top-quality Camden Town Farm Angus calves.
The beef breeding programme is a key part of Camden Council’s ongoing commitment to honouring the wishes of Miss Davies in her generous bequest. By maintaining a sustainable, high-quality Angus herd we’re keeping Camden Town Farm productive, preserving its agricultural heritage, and ensuring Miss Davies’ vision for a working community farm lives on for generations to come.

It's a Dung Beetle! Thousands of them!

Seven species of dung beetles have been successfully released across our pastures this week as part of our soil health and regenerative grazing program.

Expected outcomes:

- Accelerated dung breakdown and nutrient recycling
- Enhanced soil structure and water infiltration
- Reduced fly and intestinal parasite pressure
- Measurable decrease in methane emissions

Visitors are welcome to observe the beetles at work. During active periods you may notice:

- Small entrance holes beneath fresh cow pats
- Beetles tunnelling or rolling dung
- Increased insectivorous bird activity

Please note: Do not disturb dung pats or beetle tunnels—let nature work.
The herd continues to rotate paddocks every 3-4 days, spreading fresh dung for the beetles to process as they follow the dung factories from paddock to paddock.
Camden Council’s regenerative agriculture program supports soil health and sustainable grazing, keeping Miss Davies’ vision of a working model farm alive for the community.
