πŸ§‘β€πŸŒΎπŸšœ Wednesday Farm Updates πŸšœπŸ§‘β€πŸŒΎ

Hope you've all had a great week so far! Lots happening as usual from our end this week!

Plenty of bed prep this week which opened up some space to plant Cabbage, Kohlrabi, Lettuce, Parsley, Pak Choy, Rocket, Bok Choy, Radish, Beets, Carrots, Wombok, Broccoli, Sorrel, Spring Onions, Kale, Snow Peas and more! There is so much in the ground right now, we just need some sun!!

We said a very big, grateful thankyou to our heirloom tomatoes this week as they indicated to us that their job was done for the season. We also said goodbye to some of our eggplant with the remainder to retire after this weekend. Some of this space has already been put to use and filled by some of the aforementioned winter season crops.

Did you know that scientific studies suggest that plants react in a measurable way to positive energy and gratitude? When we harvest each week, we make a concerted effort to sincerely thank the plants for providing for our community, which we believe improves the overall health of the plant. They are quite literally grown with love, gratitude and compassion!

Thankyou to all who attended our weekly Farmgate stall on Sunday. We really appreciate the support and always look forward to chatting and welcoming our customers on Sunday mornings.

This week we are aiming for:
- Rocket
- Mizuna
- Sorrel
- Mustard Lime
- Spinach
- Cos lettuce
- Salad Bowl Lettuce
- Chard/Silverbeet
- Broccoli
- Radish
- Eggplant
- Beans
- Cherry Tomatoes
- Golden Paddy Squash
- Oranges
- Lemons
- Limes
- Mandarins
- Tangelo
- Grapefruit
- Avocados
- SepotΓ©
- Delicious local honey from Taroma Raw Honey
- Fresh brewed coffee and breakfast selections from Bloom And Bean!
- We will have covered seating set up for you to enjoy your coffee and breakfast with a beautiful view our over the mountains!

A few people have asked about Beetroot. We have a large supply of Beetroot that is nearly ready for the upcoming Samford Harvest Winter weekend, so it will be limited at the stall until after. If you haven't been before, and you love professionally prepared, locally grown produce, we highly recommend signing up to receive reminders for future seasonal bookings, (they book out fast!). We can't wait!

Our produce is available here at Petrichor Farm every Sunday from 7:30am - 10:00am and accept cash and card. All our produce is spray free, organically grown and is only from the farm. We do not buy any produce in from markets and harvest as much as we can from 2am the morning of the stall. Please follow our page if you haven't already to stay up to date with the goings on on the farm. We also have Instagram petrichor.ag if you are so inclined :)

DON'T GET BOGGED!

Hi everyone,
We've had to reduce the size of the carpark area at the stall tomorrow due to the non-stop rain we've had over the past two weeks. The lower part will be roped off. It is very wet and rather slippery, so please be careful driving in and walking to and from your car.

Please, if you DO NOT have a 4WD, aim to park closer to the marquee or the bloom and Bean trailer. Where it is slightly flatter. Parking is available along the left and right fences, and down the middle.

If you DO have a 4WD, please park further away down the slope a bit, so as to allow space closer to the marquee for the smaller cars.

We will have a recovery vehicle with recovery equipment on standby should anyone get properly bogged, (and a drone for filming πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚)

Honestly though, it's not that bad, just a tad slippery on the wet grass!

Thankyou everyone and we can't wait to see you all bright and early in the morning! Fingers crossed for a sunny morning πŸ‘Œ

πŸ§‘β€πŸŒΎπŸšœ Wednesday Farm Updates πŸšœπŸ§‘β€πŸŒΎ

Sorry this wasn't posted yesterday everyone, it literally did not stop raining, even for a few minutes, so I was unable to get the drone up to get some updated shots of the farm.

This morning though I managed!

Yes, this week has been a rather grim week so farm in terms of weather. The ground is absolutely sodden, to the point where we are avoiding going down to the farm to try and prevent it from becoming a mud pit!!
Unfortunately it looks like the weather may remain like this for at least another week which isn't ideal!

Before the rain came we managed to get a couple of beds prepped and some more seeds in the ground. This included more carrots, Bok Choy, Asian cabbage, mini cabbage, Leek, spring onions, snow peas, broccoli, and more leafy greens! We also gave the fruit trees a bit of love with some compost and a heap of mulch!

We had planned to form 3 new beds this week but the rain put a stop to that, so instead we managed to get the rest of the farm area slashed ready for further expansion. We now have access to use an excavator on the farm which will allow us to make some headway with drainage and burying the irrigation pipes once things dry out, whenever that may be πŸ˜‚

We are running low on compost too, but cannot get a truck in until it dries out either. Yay πŸ˜…

It's starting to feel like an episode of Clarkson's Farm - "and it didn't stop raining for the next 6 weeks"!

On the upside, last Sunday's stall was an absolute banger! We had a huge range of produce and some amazing coffee and cooked breakfast provided by the talented Alex and Reece from Bloom And Bean! We all absolutely loved chatting with everyone who came to the Farmgate stall and are hoping this weekend will be equally as great, with an even larger range of produce available! With that in mind, here's the list for this coming Sunday:

- Rocket
- Mizuna
- Spinach
- Cos Lettuce
- Bok Choy
- Sorrel
- Chard/Silverbeet
- Radish
- Broccoli (new this week!!)
- Eggplant
- Snow Peas (new this week!!)
- Beans
- Cherry Tomatoes
- Heirloom Tomatoes
- Golden Paddy Squash
- Yellow Crookneck Squash (rare heirloom variety)
- Basil, Thyme, Oregano and Parsley
- Lemons
- Limes
- Mandarins
- Tangelo
- Grapefruit
- Cumquats
- Avocado
- SepotΓ© (Chocolate Fruit)
- Passionfruit (new this week!)
- fresh, locally produced honey from Taroma Raw Honey
- Barista brewed coffee and hot breakfast selections made using ingredients fresh from Petrichor, by Bloom and Bean!

Our Farmgate stall is open every Sunday from 7:30am - 10:00am at Petrichor Farm - 128 Camp Mountain Road, Samford. We accept both cash and card.
All our fruit and vegetables are grown here on the farm in our market garden and orchards using spray-free, organic methods as well as a lot of care and love. We do not buy any produce in from anywhere else, so everything you receive is directly from the farm, has absolutely 0 road miles and is just about as fresh as you can get, (most of our produce is harvested from 2am the morning of the stall with a head torch, a knife and a fair bit of caffeine!).

As always, a huge, heartfelt thankyou to all our customers who visit our Farmgate stall, especially our regulars, and also our awesome chef's who we provide produce to each week. We are ever so grateful for your support πŸ™β€οΈ

That's it for this weeks updates! Follow the page if you haven't already, and our Instagram for lots more photos and videos (petrichor.ag). Until we see you this Sunday, enjoy the rest of your week and stay safe!

Lots of love from the Petrichor Farm Team.
