Hello everyone
Welcome to 'Season 27' in
South Western Sydney.

Over the past 2 weeks we have been sowing the seeds, that hopefully will flourish and supply you, our wonderful customers, with your chilli needs. Coreopsis and Dill Bouquet seeds have also been sown for our beneficial insects, who kept aphids in check for the entirety of last season.
It looks like it is going to be a dry and scorching summer, so we have decided to erect permanent shade covering. We will basically use AI for guidance and between the 2 of us, we are hopeful that our structure remains upright for the summer. Our efforts maybe a candidate for "funniest home videos" though.
Our chilli plants will range from mild to superhot again, with a focus on the requirements of our regular customers. Suburban Chilli Farm will again be supplying chillis for most of the NSW Chilli Festivals and competitions. More info to come.
We extend our best wishes to our fellow growers. Let's hope Mother Nature is kind to us.

Chilli season is well and truly over and the yard is bare.
A huge thank you to our repeat and new customers. If there are 2 words that sum up our collective group of customers, it is "patient and understanding". It was a very difficult and frustrating season, due to the very hot spring and summer. Our plants reacted and their yield was dramatically reduced. I think every customer was on our wait list and every single customer was understanding, patient and with good humour. Thank you SO much. The people who waited months for powders, thank you sincerely. It took so long for our plants to produce enough specialty chillies to dry. To our repeat customers, thank you very much for continuing to support our tiny business. Some of you, we have come to know quite well.
We will start sowing seeds next month for season '27 and I am not even going to predict when they will fruit, since Mother Nature dictates. However, our normal peak time is Feb/Mar and a few weeks either side.

So from this mother/ daughter team, we will say,
thank you all so much and and see you next season.
Colleen and Allison

Baccatum chillies. Easy to grow, produce hundreds of pods from Spring until late Autumn and they don't whinge like the Chinense. These are our final harvest. We grow them each year for specific customers, but we still keep a few handfuls for ourselves to pickle. They are delicious, served with cheese and crackers.

Gee I wonder which pod I should take seeds from.

For some reason our white scorpion decided to push out one absolutely enormous pod at the end of the season. Bigger than a golf ball and absolutely dripping with oil. Perfect specimen to harvest seeds for next season.

Some of our final pods of the season will be on sale at the Northern Beaches Chilli Festival on Sunday at the Flare2Fire stand. 15+ varieties per tray ranging from mild to excruciating. Great for seed collectors or those just wanting to sample different pods. These sold out within an hour last festival, so best to get in early!

Aji Charapita

Apparently the world's most expensive chilli.. and after spending ages picking off hundreds of tiny pods, only to end up with a handful of them, I can see why!

JPR Lemon

This, I believe, is a cross between a Jay's peach, Pink tiger and Reaper. Its a tall purple leaf plant with purple pods ripening to a creamy white/light yellow with a tiny purple tinge. These are the first ripe pods this plant has produced despite the rest of our plants already going through 2 fruiting cycles.. certainly a slow grower but beautiful pods none the less. Hopefully taste good too.
