Prom Queen gets her Flowers!
The Perth Royal Beer Awards were pretty kind to Campus this year.
4 Gold. 12 Silver. 3 Bronze. 3 Major Trophies. Champion Medium Brewery.
A huge result for the brew team and a nice moment to stop and reflect on how far things have come.
Special mention has to go to Prom Queen taking home trophies for Best Amber/Dark Ale in both packaged and draught. Prom Queen is one of the beers that helped build Campus in the early days alongside Malk and Knucklepuck. They were there right at the start and now two of those originals are multi-trophy winning beers. That feels pretty special.
There’s also something fitting about this result coming in Kail Richardson-Bryce’s final year with Campus. Kail has played a massive role in shaping the beers, the brewery and the team over the years, and seeing one of the originals get recognised like this feels like a nice nod to the work he’s put in. In fact, rumour has it Prom Queen is the reason Kail accepted the role originally!
More broadly, this recognition belongs to the whole brew team. Beer awards are judged blind and consistency matters. To have beers recognised across so many categories — from Western Draught, Freshman and Robot House Party, through to barrel-aged stouts, barleywines and sours — says a lot about the work happening behind the scenes every day.
Thanks to everyone who drinks our beers, fills kegs, visits the venues and backs local independent brewing. We appreciate it.
And congrats to all the other WA breweries recognised this year. The local beer scene is in a pretty good place 🍻
