Today is World Bee day and we’re celebrating🐝
Small but mighty, bees play a huge role in keeping our planet thriving and providing the food we eat. Here are a few fascinating facts:
🍯 A bee beats its wings around 200 times per second
🌼 It takes over 1 million flower visits to produce just 1kg of honey
🚁 That’s roughly 150,000–450,000 km of flying
🥑 Around 18 bees are needed to pollinate enough flowers for 1kg of avocados
👀 Bees have 5 eyes, yet can’t see the colour red
👑 A Queen bee can lay up to 1,000 eggs per day
👩🔬 Bees can even detect human emotions through hormones
Every bee has a job to do:
🐝 Worker bees (all female) keep the hive running — foraging, cleaning, protecting, and caring for the young
🐝 Drones exist to mate with the Queen — their role is short-lived
🐝 The Queen is the heart of the hive, laying up to 1.5 million eggs in her lifetime
Want to help protect our bees? Here’s how:
✔ Stop using glyphosate-based herbicides, pesticides and other chemicals
✔Teach the next generation (start with Bee Movie)
✔ Avoid feeding bees processed/store-bought honey
✔ Leave out shallow water with stones for safe drinking spots
✔ Plant bee-friendly flowers like lavender, basil, calendula, and borage
✔ Let dandelions and wildflowers bloom a little longer
✔ Choose organic or heirloom seeds
With rising costs, pests, extreme weather, and cheap imports, local producers need our support more than ever. Choosing 100% pure Australian honey means:
✅ No additives or blends — just real honey
✅ Supporting local families and ethical practices
✅ Premium quality straight from hive to home
Thanks for backing Australian bees and the people who care for them 🐝
