Is it Cabernet Day... or Cabernet Week? 🍷 Depending on who you ask, International Cabernet Day is celebrated either on August 30th or September 3rd. But as the undisputed King of Grapes, a single day isn’t nearly enough - so why not make it Cabernet Week? 🍇

It’s also perfectly timed that our newly crowned 'Cabernet Week' is the lead up to Father's Day... maybe that's the universe giving you a sign? ➡️🍷 Don't forget that we are open all weekend for Father's Day - pack a picnic of Dad's favourite snacks and grab a bottle from the cellar door to enjoy whilst overlooking the vineyard.

🐕 P.S. Dog dads, you're in luck - your four-legged family members are welcome, too!

Wine show season isn’t just about the trophies - it’s also when the critics' reviews start rolling in! 🍷 As a small, family-owned winery, we can’t send every bottle we make across the country - wine reviews and show entries are a big investment for a boutique producer, but for us this process as an essential benchmarking exercise. It's a way to independently test our quality, get honest feedback, and see how our 'labours of love' stack up against the best in Australia.

We're pretty chuffed to have received 96 points for our 2025 GSM (new release), and 95 points for our 2025 Chardonnay and 2026 Vermentino. The Vermentino hasn't reached the cellar door yet so keep your eyes peeled for that one! 🍾

But of course, the most important reviews are the ones of the people who drink MyattsField wines! Did the critics get this one right? Tell us which of our wines would get your vote👇

If you’ve visited the cellar door recently, you might have noticed our team busily making their way through the rows to prep the vines for Vintage 2027. Winter might seem like a quiet time of year, but this is actually when we do some of our most important work.

Most winemakers agree that great wine is made in the vineyard, which is why a meticulous vineyard regime is what can be the difference between a good wine and a great one. Pruning is both an art and a science: with every cut, our team carefully selects the exact canes that will carry the upcoming season’s crop.

Trimming back last year’s growth allows us to regulate the yield by forcing the vine’s energy into just a few chosen buds. This produces stronger shoots and richer fruit, and also opens up the canopy so the Perth Hills sunshine and cool breezes can do their magic all through spring and summer - setting the foundation for healthy grapes come harvest. 🍇

All this manual work means cold hands and early mornings, but luckily, there’s nothing quite like crisp winter air in the Hills! ☀️

And just like that, this year's award season is underway! 🎉 At last night's Swan Valley Wine Show we were honoured to take home the Trophy for Best Rosé 🏆 With a record number of entries this year, and a really high calibre of wines in the competition, this is a great opportunity for us to benchmark a few of our wines - and the results are testament to the quality and consistency that our winemakers achieve each year:

🏆🥇 2026 Rosé
🥈 2026 Vermentino
🥈 2025 Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre
🥉 2023 Méthode Traditionnelle Blanc de Blancs

After amazing success with our 2025 Rosé (now sold out!), we are so excited to see the 2026 vintage is being so well received.

PS. This wine isn't yet released to the public, but if you're a Left Field Wine Club member you've got early access to it 🤫

It's Shiraz fun fact time 🎉 Did you know...?

🍷 Shiraz is the most planted wine grape in Australia, and the only grape that is grown in every one of our winemaking regions. Its popularity isn't just due to market demand - it is also extremely adaptable in many climates.

🍷 Shiraz is very sensitive to climate, acting like a canvas for the terroir that it grows in. It is somewhat of a chameleon grape that expresses incredible regionality, which is why many winemakers love it, and why the Shiraz at one cellar door can be so different from another.

🍷 That distinct "pepper" in a Shiraz is caused by a chemical compound called rotundone, it is extremely potent and the human nose is incredibly sensitive to it.

🍷 Due to genetic variation, about 20% of the human population genetically cannot smell rotundone at all!

🍷 We believe a glass of Shiraz is best enjoyed from a leather armchair, alongside a log fireplace with a big bowl of pasta! What do you think?

While France are celebrating their national 🇫🇷 , we’re raising a glass to thank them for their finest export: Champagne 🥂

If you’re new around here, you may not know that MyattsField co-owner and winemaker Rachael Davenport is affectionately known as our very own 'Sparkling Queen' 👑 Not only is sparkling one of Rachael’s favourite tipples, it’s also her winemaking specialty. Crafting Méthode Traditionnelle sparkling wine requires meticulous hand-work, intense precision, and exact science to achieve that perfect bubble. It's a labour of love, just as the French intended.

🤫 If you love bubbles, keep an eye on your inbox later in the year for details of our hands-on disgorging workshop where you get to experience the magic of the process yourself ✨
