We look forward attending the Cassilis Spring Market this Sunday at the Recreation Reserve which coincides with Father's Day.

If you are needing something special for dad we have cider and wine on sale along with some fabulous pottery, wood turning items and beautiful timber chopping boards.

We are very happy to be able to release our 2025 Pinot Noir just in time for the market and have some delicious ciders available, including our new Raspberry and Apple Cider.

We have been busy with our build but have now started to get back into pruning our orchard and vineyard.

We started with the Pink Lady and Cox's Orange Pippin trees but have noticed how much damage the hares have done to our lower branches and some tree trunks. We will have to try and guard them more but know we will lose some of our lower branches which are getting ring barked unfortunately.

The wallabies have also been doing lots of damage in the orchard and garden as they drag down the branches often breaking them to nibble on the new growth. We love our wildlife but it is challenging to keep some plants out of their reach.

Rick has also grafted some cherries again this year with three different varieties and has some apple trees to graft shortly too. The cherries we harvested were delicious last year but we have to keep them netted otherwise we wouldn't get any fruit!

The grapes are still dormant but will need lots of work too as they were knocked about by the late frosts last November. Hopefully a better year this year!!

Our entry for the Great Alpine Scarecrow exhibition is now on show at the end of our road. The grandkids and I made it together and we are calling it "A Miner Down On His Luck".

Hopefully he holds up to the wind and the rain!

We had a great day out attending our local Cassilis Community Market at the Swifts Creek Hall last weekend as part of the wonderful East Gippsland Winter Festival.

The Swifts Creek Hall is looking fabulous after a significant restoration and extension and it is great to see it used for such events as our local market and the Great Alpine Basketry group's workshop.

We are now home again and able to open up our Cellar Door both today, Saturday, the 11th of July and tomorrow too from 11.00am to 4.00pm.

We also have a new cider recently released, our delicious Apple & Raspberry Cider. So drop by and have a taste.

In addition we have some lovely pottery from potter Chris Guthleben, beautiful wood turned items from Max Zelman and fabulous chopping boards and knife blocks created by Steve Pearman. All available to purchase at our Cellar Door.

We are disappointed we couldn't attend the fabulous Bruthen Medieval Festival this year due to ill health but it looks like it was another incredibly successful event. It's great to see the pictures of everyone enjoying the entertainment, great food & drinks and getting into the spirit of the Festival.

Congratulations to the volunteers in Bruthen and also the volunteers who bring together the month long East Gippsland Winter Festival.

You all bring so much excitement to our Winter months and really showcase the great diversity of art, music, food, wellbeing events and loads more.

Our Cellar Door will be open this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday from 11.00am to 4.00pm.

We have just completed our annual apple harvest and have a few more buckets to process but fermentation is well underway in our last barrel of cider for the year.

We have also just finished bottling some more of our popular Ginger Cider so fresh out of the keg.

Autumn is beautiful here in our valley and we are enjoying the lovely sunny days and crisp evenings along with a nice warm log fire!

Our apple harvest is almost over as we are picking the last of our Pink Lady apples over this weekend. Despite double netting the birds and wallabies have found our apples to be very tasty!! Hopefully they have left some for us!

We will also be re-opening our Cellar Door today and tomorrow, the 11th & 12th of April for those interested in stopping by.
