Meet Sian – Business Development Manager 👋🏻

A familiar face to many of our school communities, Sian has been part of Rory’s Group Australia for nearly seven years and today works within our Growth & Partnerships team.

Sian’s journey with Rory’s has seen her work across many areas of the business. Starting in Operations and spending plenty of time working hands-on within our sites, her role has evolved over the years to encompass operations management, menu and product development, communications, marketing, catering, and now Business Development.

That experience gives Sian a unique understanding of both sides of our school partnerships. What our clients need from us and what it takes operationally to deliver it.

As Business Development Manager, Sian works closely with Business Managers, school leaders, and key stakeholders across our network to build and maintain strong relationships, understand the individual needs of each community, and identify opportunities to enhance the services we provide.

She also acts as an important link between our schools and internal teams, helping turn conversations and feedback into practical outcomes across canteen operations, catering, vending, delivery services, and other tailored food service solutions.

After nearly seven years with Rory’s, Sian has grown alongside the business and continues to bring her passion for food, communication, relationships, and finding solutions to everything she does.

Recently, our Catering and Production Kitchen teams had the pleasure of supporting Saint Ignatius' College Adelaide with catering for their Kids In event, bringing approximately 250 Junior School students together at the Senior School Campus for an evening of activities, dinner, and a movie.

With such a large group of students and a range of dietary requirements to consider, the school approached us looking for an individually packed meal solution that would be practical to distribute while ensuring students with dietary needs were well catered for.

Working closely with the Saint Ignatius’ team, we created individual meal boxes, including a dedicated gluten-free and vegan alternative, ensuring an inclusive option was available for students requiring it.

Each box was individually prepared and packed by our Production Kitchen team, ready for the school to easily distribute to students during their evening together.

We love working with schools to create catering solutions that fit the unique needs of their events. Thank you to Saint Ignatius’ College for trusting Rory’s Group Australia to play a part in such a fun evening for their students! 💛

Behind every successful school service is collaboration between Rory's Group Australia and our school communities. At Seaview High School Seaview High School, that collaboration is strengthened by members of their teaching and support staff who are always willing to lend a hand.

During busy lunch services, a number of Seaview staff generously volunteer their own time to help the on-site team distribute the high volume of lunch orders to students.

We wanted to make sure that support didn't go unnoticed.

As a small gesture of our appreciation, our Catering Team and Head Chef created individual Thank You Boxes for these wonderful volunteers, filled with gourmet cheese and crackers, cheesecake, sweet pastries, and a few extra treats, all beautifully presented for them to enjoy.

These boxes were about more than the treats inside. They were our way of saying thank you and letting each volunteer know that the time they give to supporting our team and helping the service run smoothly is genuinely noticed, appreciated, and valued.

Strong school partnerships are built on people working together, and we feel very fortunate to have that support at Seaview High School.

When the Student Parliament at Aldgate Primary School came to us with an idea for a Baked Potato Day, we were more than happy to help bring it to life!

Working closely with the school, our Catering team created three baked potato options for students and staff to pre-order and enjoy as a special lunch together.

Behind the scenes, our Production Kitchen carefully prepared each component before everything was packed and transported to Aldgate Primary. On the day, members of the Rory's team headed out to the school to assemble, pack, and distribute the orders in time for lunchtime.
And the verdict? A huge hit!

For schools without an on-site canteen, special food days like this are a great way to bring something a little different to the school community. Even better, this one started with an idea and a want from the students themselves.

We loved helping the Aldgate Primary Student Parliament bring their delicious dream to life, and with such great feedback from the school community, we're already working with them on their next special lunch.

Recently, we were proud to support Lorren Atwell, Business Leader at High School, as she relaunched the Southern Area Business Support Hub, bringing Business and Finance Leaders from schools across the southern suburbs together once again.

After being inactive for several years, the Hub has been revived as a space for school leaders to connect, share ideas and discuss the common opportunities and challenges they experience in their roles.

When Lorren approached Rory's Group Australia about supporting the first meeting back, we were more than happy to get behind the initiative. Our Catering and Production Kitchen teams provided morning tea for the group, helping welcome an incredible 35 attendees on the day!

Supporting our schools goes well beyond the canteen. We love opportunities like this that allow us to support the people behind our school communities and the connections that help them thrive.

A huge congratulations to Lorren on such a successful relaunch. We're proud to have played a small part in bringing the Southern Area Business Support Hub back together, and we look forward to seeing the network continue to develop.

To all the dads, grandads, stepdads, partners, father figures, and special people across our community, we hope you had a wonderful Father's Day earlier in September and felt celebrated for everything you do.

In the lead-up to the weekend, our teams had the pleasure of helping two incredible school communities bring their Father's Day celebrations to life.

At Pedare Christian College (Inc.), families enjoyed a special breakfast menu featuring Breakfast Muffins, Dad's Snack Packs, and Yoghurt, Granola & Fruit Pots, with our team on site from 6am to ensure everything was ready for the morning festivities.

Over at Pulteney Grammar School, our Catering and Production Kitchen teams created bespoke individual breakfast boxes, complete with fresh fruit, sweet pastries and muffins, savoury scrolls, with a gluten-free and vegan option available so everyone could be included.

We're so proud to help schools create meaningful moments that bring their communities together.

We’re excited to share that Rory has officially stepped into the newly created role of Head of Partnerships & Growth, alongside his ongoing responsibilities as Managing Director.

Over the past few years, we’ve invested heavily in strengthening the foundations of Rory’s Group Australia. We’ve grown our leadership team, improved our systems and processes, expanded our production capability, and continued building the support available to our sites across the network.

Thanks to the incredible work of every department, we’re now in a position where Rory can dedicate his time to what he does best – building relationships, creating opportunities, and helping shape the future of our business.

You’ll likely see Rory spending more time out in schools, meeting with Business Managers and school leaders, strengthening partnerships, and exploring new opportunities that will help Rory’s Group Australia continue to grow and evolve.

While our focus expands, our commitment remains the same. We’ll continue investing in our people, supporting our school communities, and building a business we’re all proud to be part of. This is an exciting new chapter for Rory’s, and one we’re looking forward to sharing with all of you.

The Father's Day Breakfast Menu is now live on the QKR! App, featuring:

Earlier this term, our Catering and Production Kitchen teams had the pleasure of helping Pulteney Grammar School celebrate their Grandparents and Special Friends Day.

For this special event, we prepared and delivered 500 Family Boxes, creating a simple and memorable way for grandparents, students, and special guests to enjoy morning tea together.

Working closely with the school, our Catering Team created a bespoke catering solution that was practical, cost-effective, and enjoyable for families to share.

Each box was thoughtfully curated with freshly baked scones, jam and cream, a selection of sweet treats, and dietary alternatives to help ensure everyone could enjoy the celebration.

We love that catering can be tailored to suit the occasion, whether it's a staff morning tea, sports day, graduation, or a special community event like this one. Working alongside schools to create practical, delicious solutions that suit their events, budgets, and communities is what we love.

A huge thank you to our teams for the planning, preparation, packing, and delivery that went into making 500 Family Boxes happen!

A few weeks into Term 3, it's safe to say our refreshed Bain Marie menu has been a hit across Rory's Group Australia sites! 🙌

From returning favourites to exciting new additions, it's been fantastic to see students and staff embracing the new menu.

Refreshing our menu each term allows us to continue offering variety, great value, and plenty of choice for our school communities, while keeping things exciting throughout the year.

A big thank you to our incredible site teams for bringing these menus to life every day. Your presentation, enthusiasm, and commitment play a huge part in every successful menu launch.
