LONGWOOD/RUFFY/TERIP FIRES 🔥
Well what an awful few weeks but also a lucky time re house cattle and horses!
Once l decided we should evacuate as l could see the smoke coming thick and fast over the hill action to get the 2 cats, galah, 4 dogs, mum, Paul loaded into the good old troopy was swift and went pretty well.
Now the wait and constant check of Vic Emergency app which was going off its head.
Worst fears came to fruition when l saw the fire had got to our property.
What a hell of a time looking at the map and getting info from some of the amazing Terip people who had stayed to fight these horrendous fires 🔥
Tried at 4am to get back but was no way l could get in. I really needed to check the cattle and horses but that was going to last another 2 long days!
When l got through my heart was pounding. Thanks to everyone above who was looking out for them/us and the wonderful CFA and Ruffy/Terip/Highlands community - you rock. Not one horse cow or very young calves were injured physically. A few had obviously been traumatised but they are smart and strong 💪
Lost all my fencing, pastures, hay and hay shed, machinery shed and my tractor 🤦♀️😢
I don't want to make this post any longer so will be putting another post up to thank those amazing friends, family and local community who helped get us through this natural
disaster ❤️
