We have new wines, fresh off the boat from Hungary! 🇭🇺

Based in the village of Bodrogkeresztúr, Filep Gergő represents the younger generation of Tokaj producers focused on low-intervention viticulture, historic vineyard sites, and a more site-driven interpretation of the region’s dry wines. Working with old vineyards across several heavily volcanic plots in Tokaj for white wines and a vineyard in Eger for red wine, his production remains small in scale, centred primarily on high quality Furmint and Kékfrankos, alongside smaller plantings of Hárslevelű and other traditional regional varieties.

The wines are defined by restrained cellar work, spontaneous fermentation, extended lees ageing, and a strong emphasis on texture and mineral structure over overt fruit expression or heavy oak influence. Filep’s wines retain a distinctly regional identity, oen showing tannin-mineral structure, smoky volcanic character, and very pronounced saline acidity.

Peter Veyder-Malberg has become one of the defining figures of the modern Wachau through his singular work with high, terraced vineyards around Weißenkirchen and Wösendorf, many planted on fractured gneiss and worked by hand. Peter is a pioneer for eschewing the Vinea Wachau system of classification, which focuses on clear hierarchies of ripeness, instead opting for complete reflections of site and vintage. Fermentations are spontaneous, élevage is patient, and the wines are released later than is typical for the region. His Rieslings and Grüner Veltliners have become reference points for the Wachau.
