Meet our Chief Judge for the Branded Meats competition, Stephen Clarke.

Stephen currently serves as the Key Accounts Executive Chef as Sodexo and has previously served as the Executive Chef at QT Perth and proprietor of Clarkes of North Beach. His ongoing commitment to promoting Western Australian agriculture and producers has helped elevate the region’s reputation in global markets.

With accolades such as five Western Australian Chef of the Year titles, the Australian Culinary Federation National Chef of the Year in 2012 (one of the highest competitive honours awarded to Australian chefs) and more under his belt, we are honoured to have Stephen as our Chief Judge.

From smoky bacon and succulent ham to flavourful salami and spicy chorizo, the competition recognises excellence in smallgoods production and butchery skills across Australia.

Judged via a rigorous blind tasting process, by entering you will see how you are benchmarked against the industry's best.

What better way to celebrate National Lamington Day than with a gold medal winning lamington? 🥇

At this year's Perth Royal Food Awards - Bread & Pastry competition, took home the only gold medal awarded in the Lamington category. There's something wonderfully fitting about an Irish bakery mastering one of Australia's most iconic classics. With traditional baking methods, quality ingredients and plenty of craftsmanship, Connells has proven that great baking knows no borders.

If you've been looking for an excuse to make a bakery run, this is it. Start with the lamington, but don't be surprised if you leave with a loaf of soda bread and a sausage roll for good measure! 🤤
