We’re very excited to welcome Rodney Armstrong as one of our newest local artists at Homegrown. 🤎
Rodney’s artwork, woodwork and metal sculptures are the culmination of a lifetime spent living and working in rural Australia, and a deep appreciation for the beauty, character and mastery of nature.
With a strong connection to the bush, its flora and fauna, and the lifestyle of the Queensland outback, Rodney has spent years turning timber, recycled materials and natural by-products into wonderfully unique pieces — each with its own personality and story.
After spending some time in a more city setting, the call of the bush — and of creating with nature’s own palette — eventually brought Rod home. These days, he lives on a little homestead outside Gin Gin, with a shed full of furniture-grade and recycled timber, metal, tools and, we suspect, a never-ending collection of things that “might come in handy one day.” 😆
When he’s not traipsing around the countryside finding inspiration (and treasures), you’ll usually find him quietly working away in his shed, bringing another creation to life.
And we absolutely love them. ❤️
A selection of Rodney Armstrong’s handmade woodwork, artwork and wonderfully quirky metal sculptures is now available at Homegrown.
