Never dull moment when Tim Gole from For flocks sake - Sheep production services does his annual scanning Safari to Etiwanda. Our yearly boost of veterinary enthusiasm & in depth sheep data chats!!

We were all very impressed with the scanning results this year. Both the stud & commercial mobs scanned up really well from what was a proper tough season at joining time. Nice job Rangeland Raised ewes & rams!

Woolly is now live on the Australian Working Stock Dog Auction site - link in the comments below.

For those who missed our earlier post, Woolly is an 18-month-old Border Collie bred on Etiwanda Station in the far west of NSW. He's a beautifully natured young dog with natural ability across sheep, cattle and goats - balancing well with good distance, plenty of eye and push, and responding to both voice and whistle commands.

He's been worked in the paddock on mobs of sheep, cattle and large mobs of educated goats, and has been taught to lead and travel on motorbikes, quads and buggies.

Bred from MGH Fly with a double cross of Wondara Snap - 2015 Dog of the Year - his bloodlines speak for themselves.

Woolly is only available because he's surplus to our needs. He's the kind of dog that'll put in a full day's work and still want to be by your side when it's done.

A busy couple of weeks at Etiwanda - here’s what we’ve been up to.

Plenty of stockwork keeping things moving - weaning calves, delivering rams to clients, and mustering, drafting and trucking goats through to Victoria.

Andrew has been on the loader clearing fence lines and raking up country that was pulled a few years back. It’s looking great out there.

We’re also thrilled to welcome Oscar Rogers as our first work placement student from Marcus Oldham College. Oscar joined the crew in late January and has been an absolute pleasure to have around. His attitude, natural ability, work ethic and initiative have been commendable from day one - we’re grateful for everything he brings to the team and hope he loves his time out here.

Stud lambs went through the yards this week for LAMBPLAN scanning - a wet, muddy couple of days but nobody was complaining. The rain was beautiful.

Andrew made the trip to Melbourne for the Sheep Genetics Maternal Performance Workshop, keeping our knowledge sharp and our data working harder for the stud.

And somewhere in between all of that, we made time for good food, good company and a few lovely sunsets. It’s a pretty special place to call home.

We're excited to offer Etiwanda Woolly for sale via online auction in June, thanks to the great work Jess has put into our young dogs.

Woolly is a beautifully natured 18-month-old started working dog - extremely keen and capable when it comes to working sheep, cattle, and goats.

He has expressed natural ability from the day he was started, balancing well with good distance. He has plenty of eye and push and is developing well with his sides and casts in the round yard and paddock, responding to both voice and whistle commands. He has had paddock experience working mobs of sheep, cattle, and large mobs of educated goats.

We have retained Woolly's siblings and he is only being offered as he is excess to our needs. He has a very loving nature and wants to work and do well for you - as well as be your best mate when the workday is done. He'll likely greet you with a cheery "Awoo" to start your morning!

Recently, we wrote an editorial on Etiwanda for the 30th Anniversary Edition of the Dorper Society Magazine - and it got us thinking.

It's nearly three decades in White Dorpers for us. Where has the time gone? (no seriously, someone let us know)!
Has it been easy? Absolutely not. Have we always got it right? No, we have not, but we've learned so much along the way!

When we returned to the Western Division in 1997, we made a deliberate decision to breed animals suited to the country. Country that doesn't let you cut corners has shaped everything about the way we breed our animals.
We've been through the best and worst of what life out here throws at you, and we're still a tight-knit crew. The girls have grown up watching the challenges and the wins. They know that life is what you make it - and we're proud of that.

Today, with over 1,000 performance recorded ewes, the focus hasn't changed.
Hardy, fertile, profitable animals that thrive with minimal intervention, selected by visual type & using our 20+ years of performance data on LAMBPLAN, DNA & genomics to make informed breeding decisions.

It's not all about the business though - when the animals, the team and the country are all doing well, that's a pretty darn good feeling!!

Rangeland Raised. Bred like they ought to be!

Unique position available.
JOB TITLE: Rainfall Organiser
START DATE: Immediately.
WAGE: Based on performance and accuracy.
We require someone, who in no way can be related the Bureau of Meterology or any weather sites. (We have been disappointed by these employees in the past), that can organise rainfall.
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
Supplying 2 inches of widespread rain in the next fortnight and followup rain every other week, preferably on a Friday, so we can sleep in and have an extended weekend!
You will also be responsible for settling dust, filling rainwater and dry ground tanks and turning brown grass to green. (You will need to organise no rain over a couple of dry ground tanks as the excavator hasn't finished yet)
There is huge potential for job expansion. You will also need to agree to clone yourself, because if you are any good at your job, you will never be short of work! 😁😁
