August 15th greeted us with low cloud up the channel. After helping a fellow boatie back to shore we were heading out to Deadmans and Longnose to collect oysters for grading and the days sales. No.2 &3 dreading the thought of a superload due to having the previous weekend off.
Finding the 1st row to be cleared 2 &3 remove the gates in readiness. The boss is over the side and hurling the baskets in. 2&3 scamper around the deck to pick them up and stack at the front of the boat. Using the wind and tide we move along the row. Tying on to posts as we move down. No time to slacken off the Boss reminds us we are having a big day ahead of us.
Shockingly the Boss didn't overload the boat 2&3 think he's going soft.
At the end of the day it was decided we were to take the oysters back out and put them back in the water before we head home.
Sunday 16th the plan is to replace St. Marks crosses on the new lease, fix strainer posts and a couple posts broken in the rows. No. 2 stating that she didn't break all of them. No 2 was offloaded at one row to hang baskets deposited the night before ,while No 3 and the Boss got into the repairs. No2 lost in her own thoughts ploughed through the hundreds of bags to finish just as the boat pulled up along side. Moving over to another lease it was time for a walk around checking growth, lowering baskets and planning next weekends grading. 2&3 remind him not to get too excited as they are on leave next weekend. Oysters for orders loaded then its time to head back to the boat ramp, the shed, pack the orders wash the boat and park her then home.
Another weekend done and dusted!
