Standing with Jai ❤️
Last night was a powerful reminder that, at the end of the day, it’s only a game.
Rivalries, colours, victories and defeats all matter in the moment — but there are times when something far bigger than sport takes over.
Watching Jai Arrow reach his 100th game for the Rabbitohs, surrounded by his family, teammates, opposition players, supporters and people from all walks of life, was incredibly emotional.
This young man and his family are facing something no family should ever have to face. And yet, in the middle of all that heartbreak, we witnessed something truly beautiful — humanity.
People from all codes.
People who normally stand on opposite sides.
People who may never have met Jai personally.
People who simply saw a young man and his family going through something incredibly difficult — and chose to stand beside them.
That, to me, is what sport should be about.
Last night wasn't really about South Sydney or the Roosters. It wasn't about winning or losing. It wasn't even about rugby league.
It was about compassion. It was about dignity. It was about standing together when one of our own needed us.
To see the entire rugby league community, and people well beyond it, open their hearts to Jai and his family was both heartbreaking and incredibly moving.
And honestly, it gives me hope.
Because sometimes, when you look around at the world, it can feel like we are losing our compassion, our kindness and our ability to simply stand beside another human being without judgement or division.
But last night showed us that perhaps it isn't all gone.
There is still humanity.
There is still kindness.
There are still people willing to put everything else aside and say:
“We stand with you, Jai.” ❤️
My heart goes out to Jai, his beautiful family and everyone who loves him.
No matter what team we support, what code we follow or where we come from — last night, we were all standing with Jai.
