Harvest #2 of the Jaboticaba tree. This lot is about 4kg. Freezing some and making more jam.

Some many on the ground too so we are thinking we’ll grow some seedlings too.

32mm so far this week with a further 65-150mm forecast for the coming week.

This super El Nino, the hottest and driest on record * sarcasm directed at the BOM, is setting us up for a brilliant spring and summer supply of green pasture.

Our first Jaboticaba harvest. There are another 95% still on the tree. Tasty little morsels.

The rest of the chillies will be pickled and bottled tomorrow.

A happy find in the garden while harvesting the chillies and garlic.

We put two halves of an IBC with water and waterw**d in the garden hoping to grow a supplemental chicken food and compost source. Which is happening; slowly.

Instead we grew these. Happy days as they will return here to breed. No idea whether the tadpoles or eggs were in the water w**d we brought home, or were laid there since, but we’re stoked they’re here.

We do a lot to encourage havens and homes for frogs. So a couple of new frog hides (hotels) will be added to keep these little ones safe. 🐸 🐸 🐸

We had a visit from my daughter Rebecca today. She met the two youngest calves who have only been weaned less than a week.

Bec is a very experienced horsewoman and dog trainer but Ollie’s reaction to her was something special. No food no lead rope just trust and scritches. And he was literally lapping up the love.

When halter train, our objective is to have them experience as many new people and experiences as possible. But calves are usually wary of new people.

We are pretty good calf whisperers; but this was next level.

Ollie and his brother Oracle are going to live with Tanya and her family soon and will have new names, but are shaping up to be amazing paddock puppies.

This behaviour is called “tidbitting”. The rooster finds something for his hens to eat, calls them over then stands watch over them while they eat. He always eats last.

Our most persistent broody girl Miss Spotty is at it again.
We can fix the broodiness with a few days in a cage with no bedding to nest in.

But then she’s off the lay for a few weeks before going broody again.

So we give her the job she loves most. We had 8 eggs under her but a goanna stole 6, so just two bubs this time and OF COURSE, they’re both boys.

Awesome to have friends visiting us today for cow cuddles. I love that everyone who visits picks up how special not only the energy here is, but how that translates into how our animals interact with everyone.

Thanks for visiting Megs and Sonya.
