We are spoilt eating mouth watering super tender Speckle Park beef at home. Chefs all over the country want access to the best, the question will soon be answered. Who has the best Speckle Park beef?

🥩 Put your Speckle Park beef to the test

Entries are now open for the inaugural 2027 Speckle Park Signature Beef Challenge.

For the first time, Speckle Park beef has a competition of its own, judged where it matters most: on the plate.

Whether you run an established beef brand, are building a new one or supply a butcher or retailer, the Challenge gives you an independent, blind-judged result for the beef carrying your name. It also means you're helping build the profile of Speckle Park beef from its very first year.

🏆 Four classes across Purebred and Speckle Park-Infused, grass-fed and grain-fed
📅 Entries close 2 December 2026
📍 Judging in Melbourne, March 2027

Will be a great few days, see you there.

Come to Armidale and be part of the conversation about where Speckle Park goes next.

This November, we’re bringing breeders, producers, researchers and industry together for a day that goes well beyond breed business.

From genetics and feed efficiency to eating quality, market expectations and what commercial beef producers will need from their cattle in the years ahead, the SPI Industry Workshop is designed to get us talking, learning and thinking about what comes next.

Whether you breed Speckle Park seedstock, are using Speckle Park genetics in a commercial herd, or simply want to know more about what the breed has to offer, we’d love to see you in Armidale.

It’s a family affair it seems this afternoon.

On the left is LST M136 a youthful 10 year old with a Panorama Farms Speckle Park Spot Spray S07 daughter. Last year she had a standout MELTON U82 daughter.

On the right is M136 daughter by Blue Spark Rogue R05, WEL V137. She has a smart MONTE S38 calf at foot.

Another M136 daughter by Leander TMP T53, she also recently calved with a Below Sea Level Nitro N281 heifer.

Building a top herd takes generations, at Wellerlou we are using all tools possible in our toolbox including independent structural assessment, raw data collection (weights, scans, & docility), stringent reproductive performance plus Lindy’s overarching “do we want to replicate this one?”.

As a guide on how we are progressing Breedplan provide a Breedplan Report seen in attached pictures, keep in mind Speckle Park received EBV’s in 2018, and then December 2024 SPI released our indexes.

Genetics is pretty simple, “if you select for it, you will get it!”

We wanted to built a base on shortening gestation length while driving growth, we understand Speckle Park tastes different, on purpose we haven’t selected to shift Fat coverage or IMF, until we then know why Speckle Park tastes so good then we will look to shift those traits significantly.

Always happy to chat about how our genetics could help your herd’s development.
