“It was my dream birth.” 💫

I’m so thankful to ondamelody_ and her family for sharing these precious moments of their first baby’s birth at home.

To be invited into such an intimate and transformative time in a family’s life is something I feel deeply grateful for. To witness a woman birth in a way she has dreamed of since she was a teenager is truly special.

I hear women questioning whether homebirth is an option for their first baby. Yes, it can be.

And wherever and however you birth, you deserve to feel heard, safe, supported, and respected in all your choices.

Thank you for allowing me to share a glimpse of your beautiful journey. It is a privilege to do this work. ❤️

Celebrating Physiological Birth
5th - 11th October 2026.

This amazing woman has birthed all five of her babies at home, surrounded by the love and support of her family and homebirth midwives.

Five physiological births. Five unique birth journeys.

And, a powerful reminder that every woman deserves to feel safe, supported and at the centre of her own birth experience.

I am deeply grateful for the privilege of walking alongside women and families through their childbearing journeys.

My prayer is that every woman feels heard, safe, respected and supported, and that she remains at the heart of every decision about her care.

Here’s to honouring women, trusting women, and respectful care for all women.

Share this with a woman who needs to be reminded that she deserves to feel safe, supported and at the centre of her birth.

Home midwifery care is so very close to my heart. ❤️
They say home is where the heart is.
And that is exactly the feeling I want you to have when you engage my pregnancy care.

I want my appointments with you to feel heartwarming, and for you to know that you can ask any question at all!
That is how we get to know each other. It is a little like speed dating at first.
Then each appointment we know each other that little bit more.

This is not to say I only support birth at home.
I am supporting wholeheartedly that your home is the place where I get to know you best, understand your needs, your life values, and what is most important to you, and your family.

You are generally more relaxed at home and feel comfortable and safe to speak freely. I am honoured to visit you in your private space and am so very grateful to have the opportunity to serve you in your pregnancy. One of the highlights of this care is that women are so much more in tune with themselves in the safety and sanctity of their own home space.

It is a great honour to be your midwife. ❤️

HOW WOMEN BIRTH MATTERS.
HOW BABIES ARE BORN MATTERS.

This is not a trend.
This is the heart of midwifery.
This is why midwives do what they do.

Women and families deserve choice, continuity and the right to decide how, where and with whom they birth.

Right now, one of those choices is at risk here in Australia.

HOMEbirth is at risk.

From 1 January 2027, the current Professional Indemnity Insurance exemption for midwives attending homebirths is due to expire.

And, the proposed regulatory change that would require two endorsed midwives to attend every homebirth from 1 January 2027.

Without a second midwife, a planned homebirth cannot legally proceed.

This threatens the second midwife workforce, the future of private midwifery, and ultimately, CHOICE FOR WOMEN.

We need protect the choices that women have today because the choices we protect now shape the choices available to families tomorrow.
