🔥 QUIT YOUR WHINGING AND TAKE A GOOD HARD LOOK AT HOW YOU LIVE! 🔥
I'm getting tired of hearing, "Our grandparents could buy a house on one income, and these days we can barely survive on two!"
Well, here's a truth some people aren't going to like.
Our grandparents weren't paying hundreds of dollars a month for streaming services, subscriptions, takeaway coffees, food deliveries and the latest gadgets.
They weren't upgrading their phones every year, financing cars they couldn't afford or spending money they didn't have trying to impress people they didn't even like!
They lived within their means. FULL STOP.
☕ Coffee was made at home.
🍳 Meals were cooked in the kitchen, not delivered to the front door.
👕 Clothes were worn until they wore out, then repaired.
🚗 Cars were driven until they couldn't be driven anymore.
📺 There was ONE television, ONE telephone and nobody needed a screen in every room.
💰 If they couldn't afford something, they SAVED for it. They didn't just whack it on Afterpay and worry about it later!
And here's the kicker...
They knew the difference between WANTING something and NEEDING something.
These days, we've somehow convinced ourselves that every convenience is a necessity and every luxury is something we're entitled to.
We complain about the cost of living while paying for lifestyles our grandparents wouldn't have dreamed of.
We spend $30 getting dinner delivered, $100 on a night out, thousands upgrading perfectly good phones and cars, then wonder where our money went!
And don't even get me started on the pressure to give children absolutely everything!
Children don't need the latest iPhone, designer clothes or every new gadget on the market. They need time, guidance, boundaries and parents who teach them the value of a dollar!
Now, before someone gets their knickers in a knot, YES, housing is expensive. YES, groceries have gone up. YES, there are people genuinely doing it tough through no fault of their own.
But let's stop pretending that every financial struggle is caused by the government or the economy.
Sometimes the problem isn't what you're earning. It's what you're spending!
We've become a society obsessed with convenience, instant gratification and keeping up appearances.
We want everything NOW, and we're prepared to go into debt to get it.
Our grandparents weren't necessarily wealthier than us.
They were often better at going without.
They made sacrifices. They worked hard. They repaired things, grew things, cooked things and made do with what they had.
And somewhere along the way, we've lost sight of that.
Politicians and big businesses certainly haven't helped, but let's not pretend we haven't played a part. They've made an absolute fortune selling us convenience, and we've lined up to buy it!
You cannot spend like you're wealthy, save like you're broke and expect to get ahead!
Want change? Start at home.
Cook your meals. Cancel what you don't use. Stop buying things to impress others. Teach your kids that NO is a complete sentence. Learn to live with less and appreciate what you've already got.
A simple life isn't a poor life. And having everything doesn't mean you've got it made.
Sometimes the richest people are the ones who need the least.
🙏 God is good. Be grateful for what you have, work for what you want, and stop confusing luxuries with necessities.
💥 THE TRUTH MIGHT STING, BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT ANY LESS TRUE!
Inspired by a post I came across. I've added my own thoughts because I reckon there's a lesson here worth sharing!
