Why I started Future Ferments 👇

I was suffering from bloating a lot, no matter what I ate. I thought I was eating okay - not the best, but still three home-cooked meals most days with the classic protein, carbohydrate, and veg split.

I had tried several different diets and supplements to improve my gut health. It wasn’t until my boyfriend’s mum suggested I try some of her home-brewed kombucha that I found something that wasn’t just a plaster on the issue, but that truly had a lasting impact on how I felt.

Not long after that, I started brewing it myself as well as fermenting everything I could, and I realised this is what had been missing from my diet all along: live bacteria, not a completely new diet.

After this realisation and playing with flavours that my friends gave positive feedback on, I knew I had to start sharing what I had learned and brewed with others.

Simple Anti Inflammatory Recipe Series - 1

Golden turmeric roasted chickpeas. Toss 1 tin of chickpeas with 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp turmeric, 1 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp black pepper and a pinch of salt. Roast at 200°C for 25 mins. Anti-inflammatory, high protein, and works great as a snack, side to a meal or salad topper.

A lot of kombucha you come across these days is pasteurised or highly filtered before it reaches you. Pasteurisation and filtering kills or removes a lot of the live bacteria that make kombucha worth drinking in the first place.

These practices are often done to make the kombucha stable enough to sell on a supermarket shelf. Future Ferments kombucha is raw, unfiltered, and alive (but you do have to keep it in the fridge).
