🍇Happy International Cabernet Sauvignon Day!

We can't think of a better way to celebrate than by kicking off the weekend with a bottle of our 2020 Passel Estate Cabernet Sauvignon.

With a GOLD medal from the International Wine & Spirits Competition this 100% cabernet is a source of immense pride to us.

"Chuck it through a decanter and eat it with kangaroo steaks", says
chef-turned-Sommelier and self-confessed hopeless romantic for wine, Cyndal Petty.

"Cabernet can sometimes skew overly intellectual, with savoury-tones and firm structure confusing the unassuming-everyday-punter. But then there are wines like this 2020 Passel Estate Cabernet...."

"The fruit is bright, with raspberry bullets and strawberry skins, mulberry jam and blackberry jubes."

"There’s a lot going on here, especially aromatically, but the wine feels settled. Stoic, even."

"The palate leans savoury, with wild raspberry bush, quandong, bark and toasted gum nuts."

"The tannins are squeaky like raw cacao powder, and the acidity is bright and framing."

Happy International Dog Day 🐶 How will you be spoiling your furry friends today? 🐕

Pictured here are Margot and Charlie, beloved dalmatians of owners Wendy and Barry, who like nothing better than a playful morning running in the vineyard.

We celebrate dogs every day here at Passel Estate! Your pooches are invited to join you on our sheltered Tasting Room deck or the lawn. We just ask that they are kept on a lead, as our nearby bushland is a wildlife sanctuary.

Have you tried our new 2022 Passel Estate Syrah yet?

This bright and aromatic red wine, with gorgeous scents of pepper, plums and rosewater leading to full and weighty dark fruit flavours, won a SILVER medal at this year's International Wine Challenge.

The expert judges at International Wine Challenge found this wine to be "very moreish" and provided the following tasting notes:

🫘"Intense and appealing with mocha and coffee leading to dates, plum, black and blue berry."

🍷"Fine grainy tannins, very moreish."

🍇"Ripe and rich."

🌱 A hint of spring in our new chenin blanc vineyard!

Viticulturist, Tim Quinlan, has planted a variety of mid-row crops to protect and encourage healthy soils.

The delicate flowers are from the forage radish which develops a tuberous root which breaks through the soil and aids water drainage. The flowers also attract beneficial insects for natural pest control.

Tim has also planted oats, to protect the soil through winter and add organic matter which breaks down and becomes a food source to the beneficial fungi and bacteria which are critical for soil health.

As the days start to warm up, we will see clovers and other legumes emerge. These plants fix nitrogen from the atmosphere and convert it into a plant available form that nourish the vine's feeder roots.

Today we would like to introduce Brieux, our new tasting room venue supervisor and charmant français addition to our team!

Originally from France, Brieux has several years experience working in the Margaret River wine industry. He is passionate about all things wine and is currently studying winemaking and viticulture; all of which he draws on to deliver exceptional experiences for our guests at Passel Estate.

We asked Brieux to share some of his favourite things about working at Passel Estate:

"It’s great to be able to work with so many back vintages and show our visitors how beautifully Passel Estate's cabernets age."
