Cape Grace Wines

Cape Grace Wines Handcrafted “Single Vineyard Wines” One of the great little wineries in Margaret River. Robert is a great grandson of timber baron
M.C.

Cape Grace Wines is a family affair, owned and operated by Robert
and Karen Karri-Davies whose family have been part of the south
west since 1875. Davies who was a founder of Margaret River. Located on the headwaters of the Wilyabrup Valley, Cape Grace is
situated in a classic bush setting of Marri and Jarrah trees, amidst a
profusion of wildflowers each spring. The family spent a year
lookin

g for the perfect vineyard location, and when the farm that
Dr Tom Cullity originally wanted for his Vasse Felix vineyard
became available in 1996, they knew it would be prime
grape-growing land. The Cape Grace Vineyard is naturally grown on organic principals. Careful attention to canopy management and low yields results in
high quality fruit. The reds are dry grown forcing the roots deep in
search of water. This has the added effect of the roots picking up
more minerals and trace elements which contribute to the notion
of terrior or a sense of place. In the winery the emphasis is on minimum intervention. Hand
plunging and basket pressing gives gentle fruit and must handling
and where possible the wine is transferred by gravity. These
processes result in greater fruit flavours and soft tannins.

Our Cellar Door will be closed today, Monday 1st June. There’s a tree down at the south entrance to Cape Grace, and trees down on the northern end of Fifty One Road too.

Thank you to all the gorgeous customers who braved the wild weather yesterday and visited us and treated themselves to wine. We hope you’re all staying safe out there!

Today we’re celebrating two very important things at Cape Grace - International Chardonnay Day and Karen’s birthday.

Karen is truly the heart of Cape Grace. There’s very little she doesn’t do! And she works tirelessly every single day - always with incredible generosity and warmth for the people around her and for this little winery she and Rob have built together over the last 30 years.

So tonight, we’ll be raising a glass of Cape Grace Chardonnay to celebrate her - and what better wine to toast with on Chardonnay Day.

Happy Birthday Karen, and cheers to one of our favourite days of the year.

We are very proud that Cape Grace has been included in the list of The Real Review Top Wineries for 2026. For a small, family-owned winery like ours, this is no small feat, and we’re very chuffed (to say the least!) 🍇

Thank you to everyone who visits our cellar door, purchases our wines online, says hello at events or follows our journey - we truly appreciate your support.

Back to where it all begins. Swipe for some beautiful, steamy compost goodness!

After vintage, the grape marc - skins, seeds and stems left behind after pressing and shown in the first photo - is composted and returned to the vineyard. As it breaks down, it helps build healthier soils, increases organic matter and supports microbial life beneath the vines.

For us, it’s all part of farming sustainably and keeping the vineyard in balance for future vintages. What comes from the soil eventually finds its way back to it.

As part of Cabin Fever, we’re hosting an intimate museum tasting celebrating 30 years of winemaking, with a focus on our Reserve Basket Pressed Cabernet Sauvignon. Produced only in exceptional vintages, just two barrels (around 600 bottles) are made each vintage, making this one of the rarest wines in our cellar.

Guided by Head Winemaker Conrad Tritt, you’ll taste through a selection of museum Cabernet Sauvignon spanning the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018 and 2019 vintages, exploring how each season and time in bottle, shapes the wine in the glass.

If Cabernet is your thing, this is one not to miss - with the opportunity to taste and purchase from the museum, plus a $20 cellar door voucher redeemable on the day.

You can book your seat through the Cabin Fever website here: https://events.humanitix.com/ransack-the-cellar-2026

Vintage might be over but the work doesn’t stop in the winery or vineyard! A photo from our post-harvest spray of foliage fertiliser. This gives the vines a feed before they shift into dormancy over the winter. We think the Autumn colours are stunning right now!
