After the four hardest months of my time as an oyster farmer, December has been absolutely wild.
Four weeks out from Christmas we got the all-clear to resume sales out of Franklin Harbour... And resume sales we did! Something in the order of 4500 dozen out the door and around the country for Jet Oysters, and another 2500 doz delivered to Adelaide on the Christmas run...
We've done a wedding and gigs with the oyster bar at Pirate Life and Woodstock Wines, it's felt really good to be putting our own oysters over the bar again. I'd like to thank our mates at Smoky Bay Oysters in Smoky and Angel Oysters in Coffins for supplying their delicious product to keep FHOCo. alive while we were shut down.
Waking up this morning to messages from people who finally sat down last night and officially started their Christmas with fresh oysters is pretty cool... Amid the chaos it can be easy to forget that our product is something pretty special, and thinking about the 7000 dozen hand-picked oysters that I've put on Christmas celebration tables and the joy that they bring is really heartwarming.
It's about doing cool s**t with cool people, and for the next couple of weeks I'm going to turn the phone off and enjoy a well-earned break with my family and friends to rest, recharge, and get ready to throw myself at 2026.
Cheers!
❤️🦪
