Hacked Calcookara Poll Merino Stud Hacked page

23/06/2022

Hi Everyone,
We need your help! After this page being hacked we have started up our new face book page Calcookara Stud and invite you all to like and follow our new page. Please click on the following link Calcookara Stud and help us grow our page again. THANK YOU

17/03/2022

Sadly our page has been hacked. A person calling himself Giammarco Rossi is now the Calcookara page owner. He is obviously an absolute scum bag who has too much time on his hands.
It has been suggested to us to try posting to the page and asking all of the people who have followed the page to report it under the Intellectual Property option and then go to their own Help & Support link (at the top right of the page on a computer) and Report a Problem. Then choose Something went wrong where you can write a brief explanation. If we can get a consistent message about our page being stolen and get as many people as we can to post the same message, it might get through. But it is a long shot. Choose "Login" as the area.
We are currently still admin to the page but he/she is trying to get us demoted and then he will have total control of our page. If anyone has any other ideas please let us know! If this doesn't work we will most likely have to start a new page. We are gobsmacked that facebook don't want to know, or do anything about it.
Thank you for your support.

February was a busy month but really enjoyed catching up with Matt Story to class the hoggets prior to shearing. These girls were well grown with the virtues of easy care being one of the priorities. They’ve endured a wet summer for these parts with a minimum of 10-12” falling over December/January. One thing that Matt stressed was that they hadn’t treated or lost one animal to fly strike.
This flock is screaming along for quality due to a pretty strict selection criteria come ram purchasing time.
A flock that the Story family can be proud of!!!

Well it’s a long time since I’ve done a post & for that I apologise. What a roller coaster of a year!
No rain for most, until June. Which also means no feed!!
We were very blessed down on what is normally our worst country on the flats to get coastal rain around April 15.
Then wide spread rain in most districts during June/July to the point of being very wet.
Only to see it completely dry up for August/September and October and just to rub salt in 100mm for November during harvest.
We were very lucky to come in not far away from average for the yields thanks to being able to sow early & get the ball rolling.
We had a fantastic hay crop on the flats property and ended up with 581 6’ rolls on hand as well.
We hope you all had a great Christmas and look forward to what 2022 brings with hopefully a few less challenges.
This is the year that was, for our cropping enterprise and will do another post on the stud business soon.
Cheers and beers from Brenton Jane & boys

Hello people,
I have a few posts to do up over the next few days so stay tuned & I'll spread them out over a period of time. If anyone is looking for a small line of hoggets Shane Hooper of Orroroo has 28 available. Good luck to Byerlee's & Haggerty's today with the sale of their larger lines. We wait eagerly to hear the results.

Hi Everyone,
just wanted to let you know that Neil Byerlee has his ewe hoggets available at Jamestown next Thursday. There is a line of 300 available from about 770 classed. They were in very good order when classed back in July as weaners & can't imagine that Neil would have let them slip a bit. Any enquires don't hesitate to contact Neil or myself.

Well it just wouldn't be shearing without a bit of wool p**n. The fleeces involved are basically from daughters of Calcookara 400. Cop a load of these for sheer quality.

Good hay is essential for a stud enterprise. This crop was cut & baled at the right time & luckily for us under the right conditions. Well done Grant & Jacob.

Whilst it was a late start to the season in every district including ours, we managed to catch good rain on our Cowell flats farms "Brooksea" & "The Bomb Huts" in mid April. This meant that we started sowing on the 20th April down there. The rain was extremely coastal but at least we got a start. This is the first paddock sown. 110ha of Moby barley to be cut for hay. We believe in supporting the people that support us, so we asked ram client Grant Kammerman from Lock if he'd do the job. Thankfully he agreed, it's the best our hay has ever been done. All cut, raked & baled within 14 days!!!! Any locals are more than welcome to go & have a look at them sitting in the paddock as we highly recommend Grant for future reference, he has all of the latest equipment which has him set up to handle export hay if required. Great job Rocca & I hope you bale this many for us next season!!! Please make sure you see the video of Rocca cutting this crop on another post.

Now for what we thought was the stand out ram of the Classic line up. Lot 4, son of Calcookara 400 bred by Gunallo. Squeezing into his pen at a mind blowing 136kg as a 17mth old. 200999 had the usual "anywhere wool" of his father with crimp to boot from I'm pretty sure under the skin to the tip!! Check this out though YWT of a meagre 14.3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In the top 1% for SG thanks Sid. We have to say that if we didn't have 5 of 400's sons & him running in our sire mob then this bloke would have ended up right back here. However we do, so he didn't but he's not far away as he was appreciated & picked up by Darryl & Klay Smith of Glenville Stud for a respectable $19,000. Seriously check the structure & purity of this beast out....... Semen from Calcookara/400 available...

We'll start with the highest priced ram for the day. Son of Calcookara 400 Sohnic 526. This bloke was in their pen of reserves intended for display only but due to the diligence of the Superior Wool Syndicate he was scooped up for a very respectful $30,000. For those that didn't see him on the day he stood like a Rock in the pen. Big proud correct pure & a PP for bodily traits. Now for the wool!! Well, bold would be an understatement, along with nourished, white & soft. This bloke would seriously put crimp into dohnes. Well done to both parties & we look forward to seeing his progeny in future Classic sales!! But wait there's yet another post to come.........Semen of Calcookara 400 available!!! Next post in 5 minutes

Does anyone remember this guy??? Calcookara 170400 is the young gun in this post. As many of you know we have been banging on about this bloke basically since these photos were taken. It takes time between finding sires of this calibre & getting results. Well after this week we feel he deserves a little credit for some outstanding results.. At the Classings Classic sale we witnessed 8 of his sons lined up for auction, with others outside of the marquee for display purposes. By the end of the day he had $82,500 worth of sons sold!!!!!!! They were a stand out, with their fathers sound structure & brilliant purity of wool. He breeds what we call "anywhere wool" for obvious reasons. Please take the time to have a look at just how good this bloke was as a hogget & then hone in to the following post on 2 of his sons that commanded a handy $49,000 between them on the day. Semen available!!! Next post in 5 minutes.

From sale'o straight into weaning, drenching & weighing next years team. The first 30 ewes & their lambs to come through had this little gem amongst them. Some of you will recognise the family tag she carries & for those of you that don't perhaps you should come & see us next August to look at a few of her brothers. Well marked for an ET candidate!!!!! Not bad for a ewe that had to lamb in nothing short of sh*tty conditions with no paddock feed then 2 months of wonderful rain. Almost bullet proof that wool!!!!

As you all know we had a great sale last week. It's been a good time to reflect on this result & ask why the demand has started to snowball. Then I go back to some photos sent just in the last few days & weeks by a couple of relatively new clients of their recent shearings of fleeces that they're already drooling about. From what we've been witnessing positive results are almost instant for newcomers. The beauty of it all is that with the current sire bank we've accumulated this should only improve. Photos of these sires will be put up in a post shortly along with their current figures.
The fleeces in this post are from Phil Cook of Cowell & Shane Hooper of Orroroo. Not a bad start for these guys!!!
