Walking Trail Laying Day
It was quite windy up at the water marker cairn today, but the outlook was gorgeous and well worth the climb. It is such a precious season for www.threecreeksstation.com.au this year, with so much green around to be enjoyed.

Before we began the major renovation of the Shepherds Hut we had a local builder come out to our old besser brick shearers quarters and replace the ceilings, windows, doors and screen doors. We also converted the old external laundry room into a small kitchen, blocking up one doorway and opening up a wall to provide access from the lounge to the kitchen.

April 2017 work finally began on the original stone rooms of the Hut. Firstly the kitchen window and doorway had to be rebuilt as it had succumbed to the forces of nature and fallen in. We were so lucky to have had the talented stonemason Sean Ozolins work on our 2 little rooms and save the entire structure. If you've stayed in our completed Shepherds Hut, see if you can figure out what angles these photos were taken.

In 2016 we took lots of photos of our old Shepherds Hut. It was a bit heartbreaking to feel we had no hope of doing much about the state of her. No roof on the stone rooms for many years, walls and windows falling in, all of the old tin and pug and pine sections could not be saved... she was an old ruin and a mess.
Then some gorgeous friends I've known since I was 12, gathered on mass to camp at our beautiful Arkaroona campsite, to reminisce and to explore Three Creeks. That weekend was amazing, and we all look back on it fondly. It was also a turning point in how we thought about what we could and couldn't achieve in the restoration of the Hut. We made our decision to move forward with our crazy dream in the weeks following this terrific weekend. .burgess.1122
