There is something so satisfying about seeing a service bench fully prepped and ready to go. This was the lineup for a beautiful small wedding yesterday: slow roasted pumpkin, roasted salsa verde, feta, fried caper and almond. Carrots, smoked yoghurt and dukkha. Potato and macadamia salad, pickled cauliflower.

There is no "off" switch on a fire pit grill. It requires patience, wood-smoke knowledge, and a constant eye on the heat. But when you’re hanging massive tomahawk steaks over the coals to get that perfect, even char? The result is worth every second.

We’re bringing this rustic, open-fire experience to our private events this season. It’s not just dinner; it’s a show.

I might be the one writing the menus, but Rads is the real boss of Port Douglas Catering. She’s the one making sure every guest is smiling, every tray is full, and the vibe is always 10/10.

We’re often asked which location is better for a Port Douglas wedding, but these drone shots prove that you really can’t go wrong.

On one hand, you have the historic Sugar Wharf, offering that sophisticated, industrial-chic vibe right over the water. On the other, Rex Smeal Park provides that classic tropical parkland setting with a front-row seat to the sunset.

We love the logistics of both—transforming these public landmarks into private, high-end dining rooms for a few magic hours.
