What do you do for wellness? 🌿

I’ve had an LED light panel for a few years, but this pod has become something I look forward to each day. Twenty minutes of bliss—a little time to slow down, relax and enjoy some quiet.

It’s my favourite way to end a gym session and take a little time for myself. ❤️

What’s your favourite wellness habit?

🍲 **TRADITIONAL TUESDAY — Making the Most of Your Chicken Bones!**

There’s something so satisfying about turning something that might otherwise be thrown away into a beautiful, rich homemade chicken bone broth.

Today at Yell’s Kitchen, my slow cookers are working away, making a batch of nourishing chicken bone broth. 🌿

**Here’s a little traditional tip that I always use when making mine. ****

First, I roast the chicken bones to develop a lovely, deep flavour.

Next, I put the roasted bones in the slow cooker, cover with water, and add a splash of apple c***r vinegar.

I then leave everything to soak for around **45 minutes before turning on the heat**.

The vinegar makes the water slightly acidic, which may help release some minerals from the bones.

Once they’ve soaked, I add my vegetables, garlic and herbs. But I don’t stop there!

🌿 **I also add my own homemade medicinal bone broth herb blend. ****

People have used herbs in traditional cooking for generations, not only for their wonderful flavours and aromas but also for their valued properties.

I love incorporating these traditional ingredients into everyday cooking. It’s a simple way to bring together my passion for food, herbs and old-fashioned kitchen skills.

Then I let everything simmer gently, allowing those beautiful flavours to develop.

The result? A rich, flavourful homemade broth, perfect for soups, stews, gravies, sauces, and cooking rice.

And the best part? You’re using something that might otherwise have ended up in the bin!

🌿 **Traditional cooking isn’t about fancy ingredients or complicated techniques. ** It’s about patience, resourcefulness and making the most of what we already have.**

Do you make your own bone broth? And do you roast your bones first?

🍲 **TRADITIONAL TUESDAY — The Secret to a Beautiful Chicken Bone Broth**

Did you know a little prep before simmering your bones can make a big difference in your homemade broth?

When making chicken bone broth, I start by **roasting the chicken bones** to develop a rich, beautiful flavour.

Next, I place the roasted bones in my slow cooker, cover them with water and add a splash of apple c***r vinegar.

I let them soak for about **45 minutes before turning on the heat**.

The vinegar creates a slightly acidic environment that may help release some minerals from the bones.

Then add the vegetables, herbs, and aromatics, and let everything gently simmer into a rich, flavourful broth.

🌿 Celery and herbs
🧄 Garlic

It’s a wonderful way to use your chicken bones, reduce kitchen waste, and create a versatile homemade staple.

I’ve been having so much fun reformulating my soaps! 🧼🤎

When I first started making soap, I followed recipes. I never imagined I’d eventually be changing them and making them my own. But a few bars felt like they could use something more.

Some recipes included palm oil, which wasn’t my preference—I love working with tallow. So I’ve reworked my Rosehip, Evening Primrose & Macadamia Oil Cleansing Soap to reflect that.

I also wasn’t completely happy with my Gentle Baby Soap, so I’ve been experimenting with adding shea butter to the original formulation to create a creamy bar with a lovely feel on the skin.

It’s been rewarding to learn more about the ingredients, try different combinations, and watch each bar develop as it cures.

There’s always something new to learn in the Yell’s Kitchen soap room! 🌿
