Ridgehaven Poll Dorsets

This week Isabele had the opportunity to speak to Mark Ferguson for the NeXtgen Agri Ltd Head Shepherd podcast.

It was a great chance to speak about our family farming operation, our approach to ram breeding and lamb production, and how carcase feedback has enabled us to tailor genetic selection and management for target markets.

As a longtime listener to the podcast, we are chuffed to have the opportunity to share our knowledge with the wider lamb and farming industry. Hope you enjoy the listen!

Merino shearing this week and next. As merinos are still the base of the majority of prime lambs, in our business it is no different. Earlier in the week, the weaners ewes were getting fleece weights and samples taken for micron testing, so the most productive sheep are retained for merino breeding. Its about identifying the profit drivers of your enterprise, and selecting the right sheep to increase profitability.
