I have never known a Marrema to enjoy water as much as this one!! She just loves water - no matter the weather! Perhaps she is hoping to find the frogs!!

When we put different organic products together we can get some great and lasting results. Bio char will hold more moisture, create homes for microbes, hold or tie up chemicals, feed through mineralization from the burning wood and I am sure much more that I don't know.

There are many ways to apply compost, the trial work doesn't lie. 10-50kgs / ha applied into the soil does work.

Hi Productive Farmers, below is from the microscope of a compost product I was looking at yesterday. There is organic matter, bacteria and in the centre (I think) is a Diatom the rounder one and the other two more oval shaped are either a Stalked Ciliate or a Testate Amoebae. Notice the inside of these tiny tiny microbes they are filled or filling up with bacteria which they have eaten. There is also a tiny circle inside the oval shaped one. I think they are eggs or spores as many of them had these little circles inside them as I looked at other samples. These bacteria eating microbes are food for worms and they are grown in compost from the greens you put in the compost. Most soils I look at are bacterially dominated and so by adding a compost with bacteria eating microbes it helps lower the bacteria level and creates a food source for the worms.
