Been a long week and, to be honest, I’d slipped into a pretty bad attitude. Yesterday I readjusted… and today reminded me what really matters. 💛

We celebrated Mother’s Day today because tomorrow is all about football commitments, and honestly, I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

13 people for lunch, totally unorganised, slightly dysfunctional, and somehow it all came together beautifully thanks to Weeknight Cook and a table full of favourites.

Grateful for good food, family chaos, my dear Mum, and our wonderfully dysfunctional lunch crew. 🥰

A day late, but definitely not forgotten 💙
Yesterday marked International Day of the Midwife, and I didn’t want it to pass without recognising the incredible work these professionals — and midwifery students — do every single day.
I feel especially proud thinking about my gorgeous niece, Tildy, who is in her third year of Nursing/Midwifery. Listening to her talk about her studies and the work she’s doing with such passion is truly inspiring.
It also takes me back to my own journey into parenthood — such an exciting time, but one that can feel pretty daunting too. Even with a wonderfully supportive partner and family, having someone there who offers guidance, reassurance, compassion, and care makes all the difference.
Hearing how Tildy and her peers support expectant mums right from the very beginning of pregnancy really highlights just how vital midwives — and those training to become them — are in those early stages of becoming a parent.
So, thank you Tildy — and all the amazing midwives and midwifery students out there — for everything you do. You make a bigger difference than you probably realise 💫

So, I was a day late getting going on my 100km in May Challenge for brain cancer research, BUT what a start.... 5km walk along the Mooloolaba foreshore with Kel, made even more special after missing him this past week, while he was out west for work!!
Thanks so much to all who have supported me and this very important cause!!!

I’m always inspired when I see those super-organised meal prep sessions where people stock their family freezer for the week ahead. Well… this weekend I decided to give it a go — but with a little twist 💛
Instead of just cooking for us, I put together a big cook-up for Dalby Circle of Care, an incredible organisation supporting people in need in our community.
There’s something pretty special about spending a weekend in the kitchen knowing it’s going to help others. This morning I dropped off 50+ single-serve, ready-to-heat meals for their freezer (okay… minus 4 Massaman Beef meals that smelled way too good not to eat for dinner last night 😄).
It honestly gave me such a buzz being able to contribute in a small way.
Let’s all get behind the amazing volunteer organisations around us — they’re a huge part of what makes our communities stronger, kinder, and more connected for everyone 💛

This May, I’m taking on the 100km in May Challenge to raise funds for brain cancer research 💛
This is a cause that means a great deal to me. In just the past couple of years, I’ve been deeply saddened and alarmed by how many people in my life have been impacted by this devastating disease.
I’ve lost two incredible mentors to brain cancer — both of whom, alongside their amazing partners, played pivotal roles in my journey. One helped shape my path through Weeknight Cook with their leadership and guidance, and the other supported me in re-establishing myself as a therapist when I returned to Australia in 2006. I will always be grateful for the impact they had on my life.
But my connection to this cause goes back even further. When I was just 9 years old, my cousin — only 8 — lost his battle with brain cancer. That loss had a profound effect on me and was one of the driving forces behind my decision to become an Occupational Therapist.
So this May, I’m walking (and running!) 100km not just for awareness, but in honour of those we’ve lost, those still fighting, and the families walking beside them.
In addition, 10% of all Weeknight Cook sales throughout May will be donated to this amazing cause — so you can support simply by purchasing and cooking with us too 🙌
Please get behind me in whatever way you can — whether that’s donating, purchasing Weeknight Cook, sharing, or cheering me on ❤️
