Spring is here, and we’re getting closer to our big fresh blueberry season! 🫐💙

While we wait for the new season’s crop to arrive in October, our farm stall will be open on select weekends in September for all your frozen berry and gluten-free favourites. ❄️🌾

🍇 Nature’s Favorite Magic Trick! 🪄✨
Have you ever noticed that beautiful, dusty-white coating on our blueberries? That’s called the "wax bloom," and it’s actually a secret superpower!

Even though blue is one of the rarest colors in nature, blueberries aren't actually blue underneath. 😲

Here is the cool science behind our Frosty Blues:

- It’s a light illusion! 🔬 The micro-thin wax layer on the skin scatters light, making the berries look indigo. If you rub it away, the skin underneath is actually deep purple or dark red!

- Natural armor! 🛡️ That "frosty" bloom acts as a natural shield, locking in moisture and keeping the fruit crisp and juicy.

- The pH balance shift! 🧪 Blueberries get their rich color from natural pigments called anthocyanins. These pigments act like a mood ring—baking them with acidic lemon turns them reddish-pink, while alkaline baking soda turns them deep blue-green!

Nature really is the ultimate artist. 🎨

☀️ Fresh vs. Frozen:
Our fresh blueberry season runs from October to February. But don't worry—outside of those months, we keep the magic alive with plenty of delicious frozen berries and locally made blueberry products at the stall!
