NT Magpie Goose and Waterfowl Season Opens 5 September

Get Ready... The 2026–27 Northern Territory magpie goose and waterfowl hunting season is almost here!

Season dates: 5 September 2026 – 3 January 2027
Private land: 15 August 2026 – 3 January 2027
Daily bag limit: 7 magpie geese and 10 other waterfowl per hunter
Extended possession limit: 21 magpie geese and 30 other waterfowl when away from home for 3 or more days

Today we partnered with OzHarvest to deliver our first of six Native Food Cultural Experiences to school children at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School.

OzHarvest is a for-impact organisation providing food rescue services and educational programmes with the wider purpose of Nourishing Our Country!

This program always provide some yummy native food tasting and today the kids finished the session with some scones and rosella jam.

Thank you to Sacred Heart and OzHarvest for allowing us to share the food and Larrakia culture with you.

Aboriginal Community Harvest and Fire&Forage will be at the Top End Native Echo-Fair. Come join us if you haven’t made it to any of our events yet. This is your chance to try our food with family friendly options.

Come and try a paperbark smoked barramundi taco or get the kids a buffalo sausage on the 22nd August at the Jingili Water Gardens.
