We’re sitting here at 4:30 on a Friday… and for the first time in months, we’re not rushing into service.
Just feeling it.
Grateful. Proud. A little bit in disbelief.
Six months ago this was just an idea — a dream of a youth-powered, community-driven kitchen bringing people together around nourishing, flavourful food.

On Friday service… it came to life in a way we couldn’t have imagined.
Over 200 people. 185 plates sold, down to the last grain of rice. Youth bands, youth stalls, youth running the kitchen — absolutely smashing it.
At one point we just stopped and looked around…“What have we created here?”

This season has been full — long days, hard physical work, learning curves, and a lot of unknowns. And also… connection, growth, and something that feels deeply meaningful.
To the young crew — watching you step up, take ownership, and grow in confidence has been one of the greatest rewards.
To everyone who came, ate, danced, supported, shared a moment with us — you made this what it is.

We’ll take a short winter pause, but we’re not disappearing. Pop-ups, brunches, and special moments will still happen when the weather plays along.

Big love to our local creatives sharing playful kids’ activities and magic at tomorrows Happy Plate Festival ✨ + space to wander and check out our youth market stalls — all from 4:30pm 🎉

BUBBLES ~ Big bubble making and play. Buckets of Linda’s magic giant bubble mix and wands to share!

FOREST FAERIE (Aria) will be offering a nature wand-making activity using foraged materials and yarn, for a gold coin exchange. Forest Faerie invites magic and wonder in nature, inspiring all ages to connect with creativity and play.

CIRCUS PLAY ~ Come try some Circus skills with Zak: juggling, acrobatics, slacklining and why not giving a go on the unicycle?!

DENMARK SKATE INC will be hosting a relaxed hang space by the skate park. Drop in for a chat with Kizza and Rose, connect with the local skate crew, learn about what’s coming next, and pick up some handy skate tips.

HoneyDrop is a reverent weaver of delicate & dynamic soundscapes. Her sets traverse sensual & lyrical oases that are designed to inspire both b***y shaking and spirit upliftment. Expect globally inspired tunes and a playful yet soulful atmosphere.

Catch Jackson Brown, on the mic alongside DJ HoneyDrop, the audio calligrapher, for some high-tier hip-hop. Expect sharp wordplay, rhythmic wit, and the raw energy of creative improv.

A one-night-only set starting around 7pm to close the season—bringing it home with rhythm, flavour and community at Happy Plate from 430-830pm.

We’re thrilled to announce that “The Jig Is Up” are performing at Happy Plate Kitchen this Friday, 5:30–6:30pm 🎻🎤🎶🍀✨

Evie, Poppy and Sienna Raii are a talented local trio bringing high-energy Celtic, folk-fiddle and gypsy vibes. Keep an ear out during their set — they’ll be inviting you to join in some interactive reel dancing… how fun! 💃🏻🌿🎉

A special full-circle moment for us: Evie and Poppy (The Primordial Notes) opened our very first Happy Plate of the season, and now they’re back with Sienna Raii to help us close out what’s been a truly beautiful season ✨

Last Friday went off.

The Crustaceans .aceans (year 9 crew) brought proper punk energy — loud, raw, no holding back.
The kind of set that wakes the whole space up.

What a lovely mix of people connecting, healthy, tasty food, and strong support for the young legends stepping up and owning it!

We feel lucky to have this kind of talent in town 🎸🤘

Final Friday this week — we’re turning it into a proper end-of-season festival!

Hey friends 🧡

Next Friday is our *final Happy Plate for the season* — and we’d really love you there.

An evening of delicious food, music, youth energy and connection — this is what Happy Plate Fridays are all about.

We’re going out with a bang:
• Live youth band *The Jig Is Up*
• DJ Honeydrop + MC Jackson Brown
• Youth stalls, face painting, bubbles, and nature crafting for kids

Food (5:00–7:30pm):
Persian lamb, Harissa chicken, vegan curry + all the tasty sides.

It’s been a big season — close to 2000 plates, youth learning real skills in the kitchen, music, families, our vision became real life and blossomed into something truly meaningful…
This one is a celebration of all of it.

Tomorrow at Happy Plate Friday 🌿✨

We’ve been cooking up a storm this week and we’re so excited to share this one-off African Curry Night with you…

A rich, nourishing Swahili-inspired coconut curry (lamb or veg & chickpea), paired with zesty and colourful flavours and brand new sides (menu and pricing above☝🏽)

✨ PLUS live drumming to set the rhythm for the evening
✨ And a special offering from Denmark’s very own Great Southern Storytellers, Silvia Lehmann, sharing an African tale with us

We’re also delighted to introduce our first ever Happy Plate Meal Deal:

Hey Friends 

We’re down to the last 3 Fridays of Happy Plate this season — and they’re looking pretty special.

This Friday (10th) we’re doing a one-off African curry night — new flavours, slow-cooked lamb on bone broth, a rich vegan curry, fresh toppings… and lots of live drumming.

17th — The Crustaceans, one of Denmark’s exciting upcoming youth bands, bringing some punk energy.

24th — final night.
The Jig Is Up, DJ set, MC, stalls, face painting and a few surprises. Going out with a bang.
