Let’s be honest… it’s a RIDE 🥶
Winter is finally here. NGL, it’s a real LOVE/HATE relationship for me. However, this year I feel like I’m ready to tackle it head on. These are my NON NEGOTIABLES for the season:
EAT SLOW. Slow cooked food is easier to digest and maximises flavour and nutrition. Like cabbage for example - cruciferous vegetables - sauté with some ghee, garlic and white beans and then simmer them down in broth to create a slow and delicious offering. We are loving Biofarms cabbage, broccoli, carrot and onion. make the most delicious canned butter beans and I always make sure I have a few in the pantry for easy meal prep 🍲
EMBRACE BROTH. Weather it’s vego/vegan or animal based, broths are a GAME CHANGER during winter. Not only do they bring flavour, broth is a highly nutritious food that supports your gut microbiome and enhances immune function. Easily added to recipes or taken on its own. Make at home or buy pre made - there are SO MANY top quality broths available on the market, you don’t have to slave away to reap the benefits these days! We recommend and 👌
REGULAR SAUNA. Ok guys - ITS NOT A FAD!! With the rise in popularity of sauna over the past few years, one could easily write it off as being something that’s COOL and ON TREND. And, well yes, the insta worthy pics can definitely be found… BUT sauna is a practice that has literally been ON TREND since 7000 BCE Lol 😜 Electric heaters and infrared technology have adapted the ancient sweat-bathing rituals into modern day steam and infrared sauna and regular use offers profound, science-backed health advantages - improved cardiovascular health, stress reduction, accelerated muscle recovery, relief from chronic pain, and potentially increased longevity 👀 SIGN ME UP!
in Turners Beach offer the most delightful private sauna experience. There are also public saunas on the coast at .saunas that have some very impressive views and good conversation to boot!!
SKY GAZING. Since the dawn of time. Humans have always looked to the skies. For signs of change, marking new seasons, celestial events and even garnered predictions for the future!
Looking to the sky is a powerful, universal human behavior that provides profound psychological, physiological and cognitive benefits. By raising our gaze, we step away from our daily "tunnel vision" and experience feelings of vastness and awe, giving us an innate sense of connection to the broader universe. TOTALLY UNDERRATED IMO 😂
Gazing at the sky during SUNRISE or SUNSET has amazing health benefits: Resets Circadian Rhythm, Combats Morning Grogginess, Natural Red Light Therapy, Supports Vitamin D Synthesis, Triggers Mood Boosters, Reduces Cortisol Levels, Acts as Passive Meditation. AND ITS FREEEEE!!!! 🙌🔥👏
