The orchard was first planted with a
pple trees by the Archer family as part of Landfall in 1916. A few weeks before the outbreak of the Second World War, a young couple from the Huon Valley, Tom and Mons Lees bought the orchard and raised their three children there. Over the next 64 years Lees Orchard supplied many Launceston families with their apples at the farm gate. The Morrisons purchased the orchard from Mr & Mrs Lees in 2003. Today the farm gate tradition and a commitment to locals continue. Extensive work has been carried out on the orchard removing 80% of the old style planting. With a new more productive style being planted “espalier style”. Which instead of trees being planted in the traditional vase shape. Young trees are trained on wires, which allows more tonnage per hectare. Cherries are also a new edition that we are excited to have on board! Varieties:
