When buying our products, you are supporting a local farmer, exercising low food miles, supporting responsible care for the land and its animals and connecting to the source of your food. We are not certified organic, we would prefer you come and have a look at how we do things and share our story rather than put your trust in an “organic” label. We raise lamb for your family’s table under the fol

lowing principles:

- Ethical treatment of our stock. We try to limit handling as we believe the less stressed an animal is, the better the end product.
- Our stock are raised naturally, allowing them to behave as sheep should in the sun and fresh air and are pasture-fed.
- We use natural, organic farming practices that have eliminated the use of hormones or antibiotics, un-natural pesticides, herbicides or chemicals to be applied to the stock or their fodder.
- We use Maremma guardian dogs to protect and calm the sheep. We believe in preserving the widest possible diversity of species to best benefit the land and natural systems. Using Maremmas rather than other protection methods such as baiting or trapping allow us to preserve our native wildlife.
- Our lambs are kept with their mothers until their trip to the abattoir which is 65km from our farm.
- We have personally inspected their journey through the abattoir and are satisfied that the animals are dealt with as humanely as possible under professional conditions. Go to our website to read more about how we raise our sheep whilst caring for the land…
