Fantastic news today from the Dardanup Butchering Company with the announcement that they will extend the cut off date closure of service kills through their plant until the end of February.

The efforts of several SW producers and our vice chair David over the past month to fight this closure has been key to this being extended and we are sure many other producers are very thankful to them for this.

Next stage is ensuring a solution is in place from the 1st of March so the work is not done!

Have you starting lighting the fire yet in your home? We have.
πŸ”₯🌦🌩
Do you know what that means?!!

It's casserole season! Get that red meat out, those cheaper cuts tend to be tastiest slow cooked! My favourite is to braised beef with balsamic vinegar, red wine and thyme 🀀🀀

But I also love a good lamb shank!

DID YOU KNOW?

ALL cuts of red meat (grass or grainfed) are a great source of protein, bioavailable iron, zinc and B12 !
It's also a source of omega-3 , magnesium, potassium, selenium, phosphorus, and your B3, B5 and B6 vitamins!!!

Thank you to all those who made the WA Youth Cattle Camp a success! It was an amazing experience that I will never forget.
WA Youth Cattle Camp
Thank you to all those that took the time in their busy schedules to break in and educate cattle for those in need of an animal was truly appreciated.

A special thanks to Quicksilver Charolais & Droughtmasters for entrusting me with their heifer 'Bridget'.

The three day camp was completed with winning the scholarship to the Beef assessment school in December, donated by Angus Australia , this has given me the opportunity to take my career to the next level with newfound knowledge.

The most valuable thing I have walked away from this camp is the friendships and connections I have made!

Again, thank you to everyone involved in making this event a memorable one!

Hello sustainability ! 🌎 Paradise Enterprises

Near on 6 months no rain! This long summer , is effecting more than just the feed on the ground..

Cattle conditions upon feedlot entry are diminishing, added stresses on farm like lack of water, cattle are grazing on bare soil means they pick up more spores and are more susceptible to illness before arrival.

With the lack of hay around , and higher than usual prices , farmers are having to feed out pellets or substitute feeds ,which is expensive! Especially since cattle prices are so low at current.

For the love of farming, either do your rain dance or pray for rain...
It's getting a little bit scary..

Mooovin' some baby moos and their mummas to a new paddock... only 500m will take 5 minute.... NOT!

ON THE FEEDLOT
Even though it is one of the last things we like to happen in the feedlot, our heifers and cows are watched closely in the pens for any signs of calving or pregnancy ( as well as keeping an eye out for any sick cattle) .Our daily monitoring allows us to keep a close eye on our mummas to be, moving them to a paddock or yard to give birth, and if needed we can calmly and easily assist (midwife duties), and also ensure they recover from birth.
