DUBBO PRIME SHEEP & LAMB MARKET REPORT 7.9.26

Lamb numbers were similar and the quality remains fair. Nearly half of the yarding were Merinos, and new season lambs were limited to a few pens for each agent. Trade weights were well supplied and there was a reasonable number of heavy lambs were there was a noticeable decrease in extra heavy weights. The market sold to a firm to dearer trend. New season lambs were firm, light Merino dearer and old trade weights were fully firm and heavies steady.

New season trades sold from $242 to $284/head averaging 1150c to 1180c and heavy weights reached $320/head.

Old trade weights ranged from $242 to an isolated pen reaching $318/head to average 1160c/kg. Heavy old lambs ranged from $289 to $352/head or 1140c/kg once the bigger run of lambs started and extra heavy weights topped at $413.20c/head or 1130c/kg. Merino under 20kg sold to $248/head. The trade weights ranged from $210 to $287 and averaged 1060 to 1100c/kg, heavy Merino reached $314/head.

Mutton numbers lifted and the quality was good. Prices were stronger with the medium weight mutton having the bigger gains. Merino ewes sold to $314 and Dorpers reached $316/head, very heavy crossbred ewes topped the mutton reached $388/head. Heavy Mutton averaged 820c to 870c while medium weights averaged 930c to 950c/kg.

DUBBO STORE CATTLE MARKET REPORT 3.9.26

A slightly larger yarding for the monthly store, quality was plain with a lot of light weaners and some very plain yearlings. There were 31 cow/calf units and a small run of store cows that had been continuously running with a bull. There was a small group of buyers that were keen to purchase and the market sold to strong trends.

Straight Angus steers under 200kg sold to $1020/head and averaged 735c/kg and a pen of Black Baldys reached $1210/head or 650c/kg. Medium weights sold to $1530/head and averaged 603c/kg after reaching 645c/kg for a pen of fresh Angus steers.

Light heifers reached at top of $810/head averaging 560c and the best of the medium weights reached $1270/head. The Angus and Angus cross heifers in fresher condition averaged between 480c and 500c with the drier and lighter heifers 410c to 460c/kg.

Heavier weights steers reached $1780 and the heifers $1200/Head for a pen of Hereford heifers. Most of the cow and calf units ranged from $2250 to $2650 and the cows to restock ranged from $1840 to $1870/head.
