Bangor

Bangor Bangor is a 6200 hectare farming property on the Forestier Peninsula in Tasmania's south-east, managed by the Dunbabin family.

Bangor is a beautiful farming property that is managed for its' stunning natural environment. Located on the Forestier Peninsula in Tasmania's south east, Bangor has over 35 km of breathtaking coastline and 5100 hectares of native forests. These precious forests are home to a large number of birds and animals, including some of Tasmania's most iconic species such as the wedge-tailed eagle, and the

Tasmanian Devil. Bangor and the Forestier Peninsula also have a long and proud cultural history, from the original inhabitants the Tasmanian Aborigines, to the first European explorers visiting Bangor's shores in 1642, to whaling in Lagoon Bay in the 1830's and the development of farming land to supply food to the convict settlement of Port Arthur. In the 1890's and early 1900's Bangor was purchased by the Dunbabin family, and remains in the family to this day.

Thank you to everyone who donated to the scoliosis fundraiser. The bears arrived today. You helped raise enough for 50 bears to be donated to children in Tasmania with scoliosis. Thank you so much - I'm so glad that other children will be able to have one of these bears - Amy 🐻

June is Scoliosis Awareness Month, our daughter Amy is raising money to donate Higgy Bears to children here in Tasmania with scoliosis.
Amy has scoliosis herself and is currently wearing a brace to try to avoid spinal surgery - a tough and sometimes painful journey, especially for teens. Higgy Bears are special teddy bears that wear braces too, helping kids feel less alone as they navigate this journey.
Tasmania doesn’t have a local support group for children and their families facing scoliosis. This is actually the second time our family has walked this path (Amy's brother went through it too) so we know how isolating it can be.
1 in 15 Australian girls develop scoliosis between the ages of 9 and 14. Amy is hoping to raise $500 to donate 50 bears to girls and boys in Tasmania, so that others going through scoliosis treatment can feel seen, supported, and less alone.

Thank you!!
