🍕 Back to Port Pizza Bar for round two! 🇮🇹

After my first visit, there were a couple of pizzas I was craving, so I knew I had to come back for the RM Special and Quattro Stagioni. And after so many of you told me in the comments that I had to try their seafood pizza, I knew that had to make the list too!

I started with the RM Special, and just like last time, it didn’t disappoint. Definitely one of my favourites.

Next up was the Mexican, which the chef recommended, so I had to give it a try. This one packed some serious heat! 🔥 Luckily, it was a cold night, so it certainly warmed me up… although it was a little too much heat for me!

Then came the Quattro Stagioni, and after trying it for a second time, I can safely say it’s still my definite favourite 👌🏼

I then tried the Seafood Pizza, which so many of you recommended after my last review. And you were right — it absolutely did not disappoint! 🦐🍕

And of course, I couldn’t leave without having the Rigatoni Ragù again. After how much I loved it last time, there was no way I was passing it up. That sauce is absolutely incredible — rich, full of flavour and as close as it gets to Nonna’s cooking 🤌🏼

If you haven’t checked out Port Pizza Bar est. 1968 and Carmine And Co - Italian Restaurant yet, make sure you do. Great pizza, incredible pasta and genuine Italian hospitality 🇮🇹❤️

Earlier this year, I had the privilege of opening Brown Boyz’ 16 Layer Challenge — but this time they’ve gone even bigger! 🔥

This is by far Adelaide’s biggest burger challenge, and coming back to take on the new 20 Layer version was one I was looking forward to.

The highlight of Brown Boyz has always been their chicken for me. It’s absolutely delicious and so tender. The beef is good too, but when you compare it with that chicken, it’s a tough call!

So how did I go?

💪🏼 Finished in 20:26 — well inside the 45-minute time limit.

If you think you’ve got what it takes, you’ve got 45 minutes to finish it for FREE — plus $200 cash.

3/4 PIZZA CHALLENGE 🍕
At Kapirisland pizzas in Salisbury, Adelaide

⏳ Time Limit ~ 45 minutes
🥇 Record ~ 21:24 💰 Cost ~ $50

INGREDIENTS:
24” Pizza — 3 different flavours of your choice

PRIZES:
⏱️ Finish in the time limit and it’s FREE.
💵 Beat the record and score $100 cash.

RESULTS:
This challenge has a bit of history for me. I’ve done the 3/4 Challenge twice before and was actually the very first person to open it.

After chatting with Johnny, I suggested making it more appealing to the average eater. The original challenge was extremely tough, so we decided to simplify it — just the pizza. This is now the new challenge moving forward.

And Tomo Terrier… hopefully you’re watching and taking some notes 😂

I went in with a goal of under 15 minutes, but made an amateur move by choosing a Friday night at the new Salisbury store. Anyone who knows Kapirisland knows how busy they get!

My pizza came out, but I had to wait for Johnny to get a moment to go live. The pizza was cooling down, and eventually he said, “Just start without me, bro. Sorry.”

So I got stuck into it. The cooler pizza made the crusts much harder to chew through, and by the end my jaw was absolutely killing me.

But did I hit my goal?

🥇 Finished in 16:52.

Still a good time, but not what I was after — or what I know I’m capable of. Next time I’m back in Adelaide, I’m going well under 15 minutes. That’s my goal 💪🏼

Until my next feast…

I’d heard so much about Gabagool, so on my latest trip to Adelaide there was only one thing to do… head to Flinders Park and see what all the fuss was about! 🔥

I was ready to try four subs — the Italian, Meatball, Philly Cheesesteak and Breaky Sub — and of course, I couldn’t leave without trying their house-made cookies!

I kicked things off with the Italian, recommended by my mate Matthew Smedley, and I’m so glad I took his advice. Fresh salads, quality cold-cut meats and everything coming together perfectly. This one blew me away and earned a rating I don’t throw around often… 9.6/10! 🔥

Then came the Meatball Sub, and when you know, you know… 10/10! 🤤 Proper meatballs, incredible sauce and exactly how a meatball sub should taste. If Subway is your usual reference point, this was in a completely different league!

Next up was the Philly Cheesesteak. Jimmy recommended adding pickles and chipotle sauce, and what a call that was. The crunch and mild heat took this to another level. On par with the Italian, and choosing between the two would be seriously tough!

Lastly, the Breaky Sub. Cheapest on the menu and potentially the winner for flavour-to-price ratio. It was probably my least favourite of the four, but still absolutely delicious and a solid 7.9/10.

Then came the finish… three house-made cookies! 🍪 Fresh out of the oven, Belgian chocolate, sea salt, soft, chewy and absolutely massive. These were an easy 10/10!

If you’re in Adelaide, Gabagool is one you don’t want to miss. Seriously impressed with every bite, and that’s as honest as the Big V gets. You know I always tell it how it is! 💯👊🏼

MERK’S MEGA AB CHALLENGE 🍟🥩
At Merk’s Grill in Clovelly Park, Adelaide

⏳ Time Limit ~ 10 minutes (2 people) / 20 minutes (solo) ⚖️ Weight ~ 4.2 kg
💰 Cost ~ $80

INGREDIENTS:
🍟 Chips
🥩 Mixed meat
🧄 Garlic sauce
🌶️ Sweet chilli sauce
⭐ Merk’s signature sauce
🥤 2 cans of Salam soft drink

PRIZES:
🏆 Finish within the time limit and the challenge is FREE.

RESULTS:
Anyone who knows an AB knows they’re a heavy and messy challenge, and with 4.2 kg of food to get through, this one was no exception. With only 20 minutes going solo, I had to keep a steady pace from start to finish.

I started off with a fork to get through some of the bulk of the meat, but that quickly turned into a hands-on mission, balling up those chips and keeping the pace consistent.

The three sauces I chose were garlic, sweet chilli and, of course, Merk’s signature sauce. If I could only have one sauce, I’d go with Merk’s every time. Absolutely delicious!

So, did I manage to get through the entire 4.2 kg before the clock ran out?

🥇 Finished in 18:17 — getting the last crumbs down with just under two minutes to spare.

Another challenge conquered 💪🏼🔥

Until my next feast…

🍰 Part 2 of my Adelaide food adventure — and this time, I discovered Desserts By Merk’s! 🔥

Just when I thought I was done after my feast at Merk’s Grill, Ahmed had other ideas and got my attention before I could make my escape! 😂

Next thing I knew, I was heading three doors down to see what Desserts By Merk’s had to offer.

I was handed a serious spread of their best sellers, and I left it completely in AK’s hands.

I tried a bit of everything, but that Biscoff cinnamon scroll with ice cream was something else… 🤤🔥

The Cookie Me brownie was dangerously delicious, and being a massive Biscoff fan, the milkshake definitely hit the spot too!

By the time I got to the waffles, I’d well and truly had enough sugar to last me a while! 😂 I managed half and took the rest home for a post-leg workout treat. 💪🏼

Honestly, there wasn’t one dessert I could fault. Everything was warm, soft and absolutely delicious.

I can’t recommend Desserts By Merk’s highly enough. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you definitely won’t be disappointed!

And the best part? You’ve got your savoury fix at Merk’s Grill and your sweet fix just three doors down! 🙌🏼🔥

🍴 Another Adelaide stop, and this time I headed to Merk’s Grill in Clovelly Park to see what they were all about! 🔥

I came hungry because there was no way I was leaving without trying a few of their favourites.

I started with the Raising Cane’s Box, and that first dip of the crispy chicken into the Merk’s sauce was all it took. The chicken was spot on, but that sauce… 🤤🔥

I’d heard good things about it, but I wasn’t expecting to love it THAT much!

Next up was the Heart Attack Box with their beef burger and AB/HSP fries. The burger had that same Merk’s sauce running through it, and the AB with Merk’s sauce and garlic sauce was an absolute winner.

Then came the chicken kebab — loaded with chicken just the way I like it. After all, you can’t come to Merk’s without getting one of their kebabs! 👌🏼

I finished with the Schnitzel Box, and although the gravy was nice, Ahmed, one of the owners, hooked me up with some MORE Merk’s sauce… and you already know where that ended up! 😂

I’m not exaggerating when I say I could literally drink this stuff. It left that much of an impression on me.

Great food, generous portions, awesome hospitality — and one seriously addictive sauce.

I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Adelaide! 🙌🏼🔥

But just when I thought I was done… 😂

I walked out absolutely stuffed and ready to head home, but Ahmed had other plans! 👀

Turns out the night wasn’t over yet… and somehow, despite being completely full, I found myself following him to his dessert shop just up the road! 😂🍰

To be continued… 🔥

Stay tuned for my next sweet feast…

Wow 😳 should we be calling Johnny, Don Kapiris now? Come on Nova 919 you think Kapirisland pizzas is fixing votes? Just go down to the shop, either on a Friday or Saturday or even a tight arse Tuesday and see the line out to the road. Johnny and Leannda definitely don’t need that prize money. Accusing hard working honest people is disgusting! Please everybody watch this till the end and share this video 🙏🏼

BigV_Eats vs Frank Tank 💥🍽️

Two massive loaded parmis. Two hungry blokes. One very friendly battle! 😂

Frank and I took on the Loaded Schnitzel Challenge at Maranello Cafe - Ristorante — and these things were absolutely HUGE! 😳

No records, no pressure… just two mates having a crack and seeing who could finish first. 💪😂

But who came out on top? 👀

Watch until the end to find out! 🔥

Big thanks to Maranello Cafe for capturing the battle!

Last night I had the pleasure of teaming up with my mate Frank Tank and the legends at Brownboyzburgers in Seaton, Adelaide to help create their August Burger Of The Month… and we definitely came up with something special 🤤🍔

Introducing The V-Tank Burger 💪🔥

Frank and I put our heads together, got creative, and built a burger that’s packed with flavour:

🥩 Beef patty
🍗 Crispy chicken
🧀 Double cheese
🥬 Lettuce
🥒 Pickles
🧀 Two mozzarella sticks
🧅 Onion rings
🤤 Special sauce and relish sauce
🍞 All loaded into a toasted brioche bun

And the best part… this monster burger is only $22 and available for the entire month of August. That’s seriously great value for what’s inside.

Of course, we couldn’t stop there… we also had to try their loaded chicken fries, and they were the perfect way to finish off an awesome night 🔥🍟

Massive thanks to the team at Brown Boyz Burgers for letting us be part of creating this month’s burger.

Make sure you get down there during August and give The V-Tank Burger a crack 🍔💪
