My dad and I have spent so much time together in the dumpling shop over the years. Cooking, chatting, problem-solving. Time well spent that I’ll always cherish.

AVOCA!!! We’re coming back baby.

I blinked and it’s literally been YEARS since we last popped up at Like Minds. Since then we’ve learned a lot, levelled up and are still in love with Like Minds.

After years across the pond, this year I switched sides and became an Avoca local, so I thought it’s about time I come home and bring Soph’s back to my new neighbours!

I just got back from a quick trip to Taiwan with my dad and here’s what I learned…

There’s a reason why dads are notoriously hard to buy for. What scented candle screams ‘man who buys nothing for years and then every single piece of gear for a niche DIY project on a random Wednesday’? Or how do I get in touch with Bruce Springsteen and can I purchase an hour of his time? Then you find yourself thinking… can we find a way to resurrect Prince?

The answer is actually simple. I learned it in the endless hunt for a mahjong set because I mentioned wanting one in passing, the pursuit of the best scallion pancake after the place I’d chosen didn’t hit. The monologues, stories told over and again and the random Stitch bobblehead purchased as a deep-cut callback to my childhood love of Lilo.

As the years go on and the days get more precious I’d encourage your Father’s Day gift to be a couple hours spent with good old dad. In fact, I’ll host!

You know we do a good dumpling, but did you know we do a 10/10 burger too? May I reintroduce you to the Taiwanese Chicken Sandwich, the first bite of our brand new Burger of the Month special.

This sandwich is making its long awaited return for August only, and if you’ve been around for a while, you’ll remember this was the burger that sold out almost every single day.
