This is our main trial paddock and had the cows on it 2 weeks ago. Great response vermicompost + Olsson's Blocks Liquid Sea Mineral + Seasol Plus spray 5 days ago. No rain for at least 4 weeks and is continuing to bounce back.

Out again today spraying our 36+ hours vermicompost extract brew with Olsson's Blocks + Seasol Plus + magnesium. Tried a new dilution to get max coverage of 900l of brew across 20 acres with the least amount of diesel.

This little wonder (a female Gazelle Dung Beetle - Digitonthophagus gazella) dictates as many decisions on our farm as we make for the bees and the cattle. All chemical treatments are vetted so these little guys can continue to multiply. Since there introduction 3 years ago, we have found them around a km from where we initially deposited them.

This is one of our cover crop trial paddocks. This has already had 3 grazers since overseeding Kandanga Farm Store Summer Cover Crop inoculated with our own vermicompost tea + Olsson's Blocks Liquid Sea Mineral. 3 weeks ago we sprayed the same liquid mix. 2 weeks ago we got around 100ml. Now the paddock is pumping. Obviously the rain is a difference maker, but this trial paddock is in better shape than the trial (also it is full of dragonflies).

Last weekend was epic. Picked up and started to sell our first 100% grass-fed and regeneratively raised Mt Moriah Farms Australian Lowline steer. A tremendous 4 years went into and the feedback has been excellent. On Saturday through to Monday we got arouns 130mm of rain - an absolute year changer. Our main dam had all three gauges showing, an now look at it. A real answer to prayer.

Despite the rain, we had another great day at the Esk Races. Sold out of our bbq steak and cheeseburgers made 99% Australian Lowline (1% salt and pepper). Next we shift to selling the premium cuts.

The family will be at the Esk Racecourse for their first races for 2026. We will be serving 100% grass fed and finished and local born and raised Australian Lowline beef. 4 years has gone into Saturday. We offer Gluten Free burgers and chips (cooked in beef tallow) at no extra price (why should you pay more for an allergy).

We had a very successful first paddock trial with the new sprayer and compost (with Olsson's Blocks Sea Mineral) tea brew. We made around 100l of tea and sprayed over 18 acres (we had some assistance from an unexpected rain burst). Still some tinkering with the nozzles, but each tank gives us 25 minutes+ spray

28/02/2026

With a few years of preparation we are restarting our compost tea trials with the addition of Olsson's Blocks Liquid Sea Mineral. Just doing a 24 hour brew with the base of our vermicompost, molasses and Seasol plus (fish, seaweed and humate)

Tomorrow will be the result of a process that started nearly 5 years ago. Back in 2021 we took delivery from our starter herd from Tracey and Mark L'Oste-Brown from Elaman Creek. A few months later we had our first two calves. One of them was this fella Axel (Mt Moriah no. 1). Tomorrow, he heads off to be our first 100% Mt Moriah grass-fed, low-chemical animal. His entire life has been in our care on the same 88 acres (of slowly improving pasture). He will only travel a total of 7km in his life. We are certainly praying that all of the research, trials, failures, drought, floods, graft, and effort he has experienced will result in a product that pays homage to his life.
