More than 1,000 growers across WA have already contributed to the first two fuel surveys coordinated through the Grower Group Alliance (GGA), helping government understand regional fuel supply realities and inform its response.

SEPWA is encouraging growers and farming businesses across the Esperance Port Zone to complete a short follow-up survey to provide an updated picture of fuel availability, confidence in future supply and the steps businesses are taking to manage fuel risk.

As we look ahead to the remainder of the 2026 season and future farming operations, government is seeking information on:
• confidence in current and future fuel availability;
• whether supply conditions have changed;
• whether businesses have increased fuel storage, changed suppliers, ordered earlier or adopted other risk-management measures; and
• where potential vulnerabilities remain.

Whether you've completed the survey before or this is your first time participating, your input will help ensure the experiences of EPZ growers continue to be represented in discussions about fuel security in regional WA.

Two young people. Two agricultural pathways. One strong future for the industry

SEPWA is pleased to congratulate Lachlan Warren and Zoe Skinner, the recipients of the 2026 SEPWA Agricultural Science scholarships.

Lachlan has been awarded the Rob Ashman Memorial Scholarship, supported by Viridis Ag and SEPWA.

He is currently completing his final year of a Bachelor of Agricultural Science at the University of New England, with a strong interest in dryland cropping systems, agronomy, soil science and agricultural technology.

Zoe has been awarded the Farm and General Scholarship, supported by Farm and General and SEPWA.

She is studying Agricultural Science at Murdoch University, with a double major in Animal Science & Cropping and Pasture Science and is considering a future pathway in agronomy and agricultural research.

These scholarships support capacity building in agriculture and help raise awareness of depression in rural Australia.

Congratulations Lachlan and Zoe — we look forward to seeing where your studies, interests and future careers take you.

🌾 A full room and plenty of practical discussion at SEPWA's first EFOM Session for 2026.

Last week's HR & Tax session brought members together to explore a range of issues affecting farming enterprises, including employment arrangements, payroll obligations, Pay Day Super, tax planning and machinery depreciation.

One of the strengths of EFOM is the opportunity to learn from both peers and experienced guest presenters. Throughout the morning, members shared experiences, asked questions and discussed practical approaches to managing these important aspects of their businesses.

Thank you to our EFOM Session Hosts, Tara Vermeersch and Sue Stead, and our guest presenters from Byfields Accountants and SORT HQ for helping facilitate such a valuable session.

We're already looking forward to the next EFOM Session in July.

Our first EFOM Session for 2026 is just over a week away, and HR & Tax is shaping up to be a practical morning for those helping manage the people and financial side of farming businesses.

Together we’ll explore current issues including wages, employment arrangements, Pay Day Super, tax planning, depreciation, and what the 2026 Federal Budget may mean for agricultural enterprises.

As always, EFOM sessions include a mix of group discussion led by our EFOM Session Hosts, shared member experiences, and practical input from experienced guest presenters.
