Papa Waffles

Papa Waffles Belgian Liege Waffles, made using a mix of local produce and imported pearl sugar. Made with love :) A hard wafer biscuit traditionally made at Christmas time.

The PAPA WAFFLES story...

Papa Waffles is named after my Dad 'Papa'. Gabriel Bouckaert or 'Gabby' my Papa came to Australia from Belgium in the early sixties. He was one of the first farmers to settle in the Grass Patch region along with many other Belgians in that era, hence the road I grew up on is named Belgian Road. My Papa didn't do much cooking, but what he did cook was WAFFLES!! I still ha

ve his original stove iron which he brought over from Belgium in his suitcaseall those years ago, from which I cook Dad's original 'Lukken' biscuits. My 'Papa's' Waffles were legendary when I grew up, with kids at school lining up to trade their lunch boxes for one square of my Waffle that Dad had made! Pioneer of Grass Patch
