Nice little 1200km road trip this weekend shearing alpacas, to round off a busy week of shearing trees 🤣
Finally we have caught up on all shearing missed through fires and injuries. Now we can focus on trying to get through the rest of the list.
For everyone who is still waiting. I cannot express how much i appreciate how patient you all have been. Thank you.

To all my Clients, friends and Family affected by the Longwood fires. And any other fires in that matter. I hope you are all safe and well in these trying times. We have a few spare paddocks in Strathbogie if anymore needs to relocate alpacas temporarily with plenty of food, water and shelter.

Most of you know we are based out of Euroa. 10km north of the Longwood fires. At the moment the wind is sending the fire south. And with the next few days being uncertain. We may need to make some calls. Hopefully It doesn’t come too that. But we have to do what we have to do. Stay safe everyone. Our thoughts are with you.

Great first three days out on the road. Ticked off 28 clients and 77 alpacas. Friday we spent the day between Shepparton and Echuca. Saturday we worked from Kilmore across to Flowerdale up to Bonnie Doon. And today was the Rochford, Sunbury and Wallan areas. Unfortunately 2 clients had to reschedule due to uncooperative alpacas. Which we will find another day, when they decide to play along 🤣 I had full intentions of taking more photos but well, next time maybe.

Next weekend we take the commute out to Horsham and Portland to tick more clients off this long list of ours.

This week is going to be a stinker. But dont stress if you make sure your alpacas have plenty of shade and water, they will do just fine. 😁😁🦙🦙

The stitches finally coming out of my hand yesterday. So I thought I’d better see how it feels holding a handpiece before we get stuck back into it tomorrow. Plus it was a good opportunity to get some of my weanlings done. I even managed to get the boss lady to have a go at shearing half an alpaca 🙌🙌🦙🦙

Well. Not the post I wanted to be making, but such is life. They say bad things always come in 3. Sunday it was my shearing trailer folding in half, yesterday was a pretty severe near knock that rattled me pretty bad. And today while out shearing, an animal struggled resulting in me splitting my hand open requiring a few stitches on my right hand (my shearing hand). Being the palm of my hand, there isn’t away for me to power through this one. And will have to put shearing on hold for atleast 2 weeks. Thank god for Christmas. I know it’s abit of an inconvenience. And for the season we are having and being so far behind. I totally understand if people wish to look elsewhere for shearers 😣 it’s just one of those things, and I think my body is telling me to slow down alittle.

I’ve had 3 days off since September 14th. One of those days was a rainy day and shore some of my own alpacas, and other 2 days I spent at the Royal Melbourne dentist with my son. So wasn’t really rest.

I’ll keep everyone posted on how this hands going. And when we fire back up. But In the meantime, myself and The Alpaca Whisperer team wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Stay safe on the roads.

Life’s been pretty bloody chaotic the last few months, that I haven’t had much of a chance to take photos and post much. With working, then shearing almost every nights after work, and shearing every weekend, it’s pretty full on, with little to no time to sit down and think. But like that Johnny Cash song “I’ve been everywhere” we have pretty well have been. From Shepparton, bright, Toongabbie, Kernot, Daylesford. And everywhere in between. We’ve been having a fair crack. And I think we are finally getting on top of things.

For the people who haven’t had their animals shorn yet. Don’t stress. I haven’t finished mine yet either (it’s hard to find a reliable shearer🤣😅) But with the warm weather coming. Make sure they have plenty of shade and water and they will do just fine until we get to you. 😁😁🦙🦙

With the days getting longer, we’ve decided to waste no day light. Doing a few local jobs after work. 6 alpacas between 3 clients yesterday and 11 alpacas at another this evening. With be busy day at work today and the shearing after, I racked up some steps and kms 😅 no wonder I’ve lost 11kgs in the last few months 👌👌🦙🦙

How good is seeing a paddock full of shorn alpacas. We are getting close to finishing all the big studs. And will be looking at booking smaller numbers soon. Heaps of miss calls and messages to get back too. But they can wait for today. I’m going to enjoys the rest of the day off and spend it with my boy for his birthday 🎉 I’ll get back to everyone over the next few days 😁😁🦙🦙
